Ireland’s Eurosong final is mere hours away. Erika Selin’s “Break Me Up” may have topped our reader poll, but Nikki Kavanagh is refusing to go down without a fight. Earlier today she released a revamped version of “Memories”, along with a rather expensive looking music video. The key appears to have been lowered, and a few extra flourishes have been added. What do y’all think? Is this enough to snag victory for Nikki?

The Eurosong final takes place at 22:35 CET. Click HERE for all the details.
It was butchered from the very beginning on the live show plus Nikki looked about 5 years older with an unflattering studio lighting and makeup, but it was the official video that alluded to a big gap between the audio mastering and the reality check up. It’s just really sad because Nikki didn’t want to be another tragedy…at least the song will get some recognition on the OGAE second chance or some fair amount of airplay on ESCRADIO.
Sorry but you can hear the pitch correction software trying to put her vocals in tune but the portamento is overpowering :/ good luck, hope she can perform it live
she was off-key….
Preferred the old version 🙁
@Erin: But if you play it TOO safe, you may still be sorry.
I still have to go with Erika; and if Erika wins, I think I have a theory as to why.
Yeah its much better now I guess. I still prefer Break Me Up though. We’ll see how the staging & performances flow during the show.
The addition of a bass line really gives the song substance. I can hear the lyrics a lot clearer now and those tweaks were definitely necessary. This is turning into one hell of a showdown between Nikki and Erika tonight. I don’t know what to think of all of those shots of her rolling around on the bed though…
Slightly more toned down on the high notes, which means less “shout” and more
pleasant to the ears. Likely easier for her to handle live on stage. Best wishes to her. She was and remains my fave!
So much better. Even though I want Erika Selin, I won’t mind this. Just a great revamp, Switzerland and Belarus’ revamps seem awful compared to this.
WOWZA. I loved the original version. But I am blown away by this version. This could really be one to watch in Vienna. It has the winning touch. Ireland has a habit of choosing a song, and not tweaking it where necessary. I know Ryan Dolan changed the key for his live performance. But that was it. This song, in it’s new form, is a lot more mainstream and it will appeal to a wider audience.
I think this version gives her a much better chance at winning…and doing well in the contest if she does.
@Dar her diction is pretty good actually. I can understand her pretty clearly.
It’s a good improvement. It’s now my favourite along with Molly. Now it’s all down to the live performance.
This remastered altered version does look different..
Its my most liked song from the bunch..
i can understand every word she says and i’m not even english her diction isn’t that bad
Even if his does not win … this remains a great song. Period.
And analysing a song like dissecting a frog in a lab is just a waste of our time …
I could do without the suggestive smoldering temptress close-ups. It’s just tacky…and lowering the key is a ‘better play safe than sorry’ admission which makes it sound less risky and on the edge like it should.
wow nice!
her diction sounds awful .. i cant understand what she is saying at all .. the song is hard to remember as it does not really have a melody like walk along for example
great revamp! Switzerland, watch and learn, that’s how you do it!
The remaster makes a huge difference. I actually want this one to go through for us now. The lowering of key eliminated the “shouting” in the previous version.
