The fourth and last semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2015 rounded off what has been four up-and-down weeks of Swedish goodness. In the end, Måns Zelmerlöw and JTR proceeded direkt till final. Dinah Nah and Hasse Andersson had to settle for Andra Chansen where they will compete for four spots at the final of Melodifestivalen on March 14th.

Melodifestivalen fourth semi-final: Review

#Melfest Semi-Final 4 Winners

Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes

mans zelmerlow melodifestivalen

Måns did what Charlotte Perrelli could not do and made a video screen come to life. Like…literally, he made that cute little guy in the picture with him come to life. “Heroes” stole the show and we are thinking that Måns has to be a hot favourite now to go to Vienna.

JTR – Building It Up

JTR melodifestivalen

Boyband JTR probably had a lot of their thunder stolen from them when it turned out that Australia itself was competing in Vienna, but it didn’t stop them making it to the final! Sweden clearly has a preference to boy bands with three letter names: hey, EMD

Andra Chansen Qualifiers

Dinah Nah – Make Me (La La La)

dinah nah melodifestivalen

Dinah wants to make us “la la la” with her. Girl is fierce and her dancers even more so!

Hasse Andersson – Guild och gröna skogar

hasse andersson melodifestivalen

Hasse was adorable and we’d love him to be our granddad (though we have a slight suspicion he’s actually Santa Claus), which apparently was enough to get him through to Andra Chansen!

Non-Qualifiers

5TH PLACE: Caroline Wennergren – Black Swan

caroline wennergren melodifestivalen

Caroline didn’t bring us the Brazilian flair that we might have hoped for. Black Swan didn’t take flight tonight and she’s sadly out of the competition.

6TH PLACE: Annika Herlitz – Ett andetag

annika herlitz melodifestivalen

We’re not sure if “Ett andetag” was actually the Swedish language version of “Let It Go” or not, but Annika certainly was playing to her fame and strengths with this performance.  Unfortunately, the Swedish voters were happy to let her go out in sixth place…

7TH PLACE: Midnight Boy – Don’t Say No

Midnight Boy Melodifestivalen

No. Sorry, Midnight Boy, but that was the general feeling that we got from the Swedish voters and that’s what matters. Even with all of his jewellery and a topless body to kill for, this one was probably all too retro.

We now also know the eight acts we will be seeing in Andra Chansen next week: Dolly Style, Behrang Miri ft. Victor Crone, Linus Svenning, Samir & Victor, Andreas Weise, Kristin Amparo, Dinah Nah and Hasse Andersson. Who do you want to see make it through and join the eight finalists? Tell us in the comments.

Dear Swedes, please don’t send this HOMOPHOBIC guy. If you still have principles and tolerance send someone else. Eurofans will not vote this ignorant, homophobic dude. Last year ESChas shown acceptance, freedom and tolerance. Don’t spoil this

@Daviid: Once more, given these pairings, I will make a raw guess that Linus, Kristin, Dinah and Behrang Miri/Victor Crone all finished 3rd in their heats, and were paired with 4th-place finishers from heats not their own.

@Daviid: Duel 1 to Linus; Duel 2 to Kristin; Duel 3 to Dolly Style, Duel 4 to Samir/Viktor. A no-brainer.

I just watched the recorded replay of the 4th round, and with the exception of Måns, I am pretty disgusted by how they arranged the announcement and how it all ended. Nevertheless, here is how I saw the 4th heat: Midnight Boy: “Don’t Say No”, 9.04 (4)+ [Final Result: 7th. I thought this was such a weak-enough heat, that I thought he had a chance to go to Andra Chansen. Unfortunately, the people didn’t enjoy his tribute to the late-1980s.] Caroline Wennergren: “Black Swan”, 9.26 (2)* [Final result: 5th. Once again, highway fuckin’ robbery; and even worse, she doesn’t even… Read more »

I really enjoyed “Black Swan.” I hope the entries from SF #3 make it through Andra Chansen. I think it’s pretty much given that “Groupie” and “Hello Hi” will qualify.

I think this year Sweden be out of TOP 5 in Eurovision final 2015.
With Eric I predict place from 6 to 10 place, thank to televote and harisma of singer
With Mans I predict place from 10 to 15 in final, maybe he will be like Robin from 2013
With Mariette I predict place from 8 to 12 in final
With Jon I predict place from 12 to 18 in eurovision final, only hight points from nordic countries

I dont understand the love for Dolly Style’s Hello Hi. There’s no lyrics to it, its basically repeated again except for a handful of words by Molly. Melody-wise, it is catchy.

This was the best semifinal so far, but I’m still rooting for Linus to come out swinging from Andra Chansen. Put some better clothes on and show them who’s boss!

@Jamine

I was on Youtube since Mans song is already uploaded there and some else also pointed that out. I never heard it, just did a few minutes of it…I hear some similarities.

Folks can judge themselves, or not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQhjWNctXp0

SVT clearly chooses who to give the best staging (and disproportionate props/tech?) so that it will catch everyone’s eye. There’s no argument to claim otherwise, especially when they choose to send a generic song (remember the great show Eric Sade had…) It may be more touch and go in a year with better/riskier songs (few and far between at MF in mmmyyy opinion -you can slay me but I’ll die with my boots on), but this year it looks as though it’s all down to which of the “pretty” guys will make it to Vienna. Will we ever see Sweden… Read more »

I’m I the only one that thought Måns Zelmerlöw’s song was to heavily influenced by David Guetta’s “Lovers on the Sun” ?

Oh Mans is so winning this, heading to another top 3 position for Sweden at the ESC. what a great song and what an outstanding performance! My 2nd favorite is Eric with an amazing performance as well, but I’m afraid he won’t do as well as he deserves, losing many votes to Mans. Jon is not my cup of tea and hopefully he won’t be the jury’s either. Mariette is… well… not Loreen. To me Mans’ performance is yet another proof that Sweden is way ahead of the clan when it comes to song production. It even topped Eric’s performance,… Read more »

The final is most likely going to be: Mans vs Mariette vs Jon vs Eric. I’d be okay with any of those except Eric going to Vienna.

I’d be perfectly fine with Mans winning,
But I’ll have to see it next to the final lineup.
This is turning out to be a really good final so far.

It feels good this year because if Eric, Måns, Jon or Mariette wins I will be equally glad. I just have a feeling Måns will win this….. But I would not be surprised if Jon or Eric wins either…and with Mariette as a surprise outsider.

Mans song was better than Eric but per usual there was the generic lyrics and extensive (but really nice) props for Mans’ song. Wish Carolina made it, but still upset Elize & Rickard are not in the final LOL!

You can just smell producers aiming for Eric vs. Mans but I still like Mariette and then Mans to win. Dinah Nah really impressed me, hope she advances to the final.

I think Mans will win, cause of international jury voting. Jon won’t get enought televotes to reach him.

For me it is a battle in the final between Måns Zelmerlöw and Jon Henrik Fjällgren to represent Sweden in Vienna this year. I really can’t decide who I would want to win.

Am I the only one here who’s noticed how hard the SVT is trying to ‘sell’ Saade’s “Sting”? Seriously, it’s appeared TWICE today, in a short video and interval act. That’s just… idk, UNFAIR?

It is evident to me that it is Eric Saade, Måns Zelmerlöw and Jon Henrik Fjällgren that are the three front runners.. one of them will win.

“Heroes” – what a great performance! It adds much to the song which sounds quite modern but maybe is not the winning song of Eurovision.

I never liked Måns up until today … Heroes caught me offguard with this John Newman-esque style and sound that clearly made me look and listen to Måns with a different and far more positive opinion. All the crappy schalger-Kempe BS from the past is gone and finally something awesome showed up and went straight to the final, as predicted, but deserved. As for the rest … really? Couldn’t care less. Andra Chansen? Kristin is my only favorite …. Final? It will be a close fight between Eric, Måns and the sami kid … and something tells me that maybe… Read more »

After 3 semifinals of my favorites being knocked out, I was not so enraged to find out that Caroline also got the 5th place. She was fantastic and overall my 2nd favorite of the whole Melodifestivalen (the 1st being a really unpopular one, Dar Och Da Med Dig from semi 2). Here is how I ranked tonight’s participants: 1. “Black Swan” 9.7/10: A James Bond flair, a fantastic voice, an epic chorus and there you have it. A masterpiece. 2. “Heroes” 9.0/10: The generic lyrics fail to make me dislike this. The music is nice, he is a great performer,… Read more »

If Måns represents Sweden, I will be so happy. He’s absolutely one of my favourite singers.

My big worry is that Jon Henrik Fjällgren will win. If that happens, The Land of ABBA could fail to qualify. Eeeek.

That Dinah Nah track – awesome for clubbing!

Everything else – really boring.

About Mans – his song was nowhere on par with his staging which actually stole his show. About JTR – the “cute” guys won Swedish teenage girls heart, awww…NOT!

Mans’ song may be average… but whether we like it or not, he has the most impressive looking performance and people like that. So from my point of view, he has great posibilities of winning this year.
