Last week Azerbaijan’s national broadcaster Ictimai TV anounced that they will opt for an internal selection this year. We don’t yet know who they will choose, but today eurovisionaz.com dropped a few clues. The first was a picture of angel wings. The second was the phrase “The Unexpected Comeback“. Naturally all you Eurovision sleuths are now asking yourself, “Who represented Azerbaijan in recent years with angel wings?” The answer is, of course, The Voice of Turkey‘s latest winner Elnur Huseynov. But there’s more…

elnur huseynov azerbaijan

Turkish news site Radikal recently ran a story entitled “Elnur goes to Eurovision again!“. Azerbaijan’s Eurovision broadcaster Ictimai TV swiftly and firmly denied the news. But a few days later they removed their denial from their web site.

The last piece of evidence may be the most telling. Gunay Musayeva, one of Elnur’s best friends, sent her best wishes to Elnur recently with a ‘happy birthday’ pic. She wrote: “We are waiting for your surprise song and your great voice. You will win in Europe with your talent.” Where and what will he win in Europe?

Azerbaijan will anounce their song and representative on 15 March. Do you think Elnur Huseynov is their man for Vienna? Would you mind?

I really don’t understand why you’re telling that he is a gay. He is not. It is just very weird to name people -who are swaggy, cool and modern- as gays. Sure he is not a gay, but if he was, it doesn’t mean that you can judge him, it’s his life, his choices, his rules, not your business. Again, you always talk about “democrasy”, you say people have their own choices and we should respect them, you say that , but you don’t seem to do what you say. So pls leave him alone, he can do everything he… Read more »

Aw this was Azerbaijans first ever entrant! Feeling nostalgic because I remember my reaction to “day after day”. It was a horrible song and performance BUT Elnur is a great singer, so if the song was good, I would have no problem with him coming back

If I would like a return from Azerbaijan contestants those would be Sabina Babayeva, Safura or Farid Mammadov

OK, stupid question here: Was Elnur the angel or devil in Azerbaijan’s 2008 performance?

I certainly wouldn’t mind. “Day after Day” was weird,, so it’s understandable many people loved it while many others hated it, but you can’t deny Elnur has a great voice. I personally loved it, I just hope that, in the case he indeed returns, it will be with a different kind of song, more of the same would be his doom.

He’s absolutely deserving. So talented. Emin is talentless.

1. F*ck Emin. He popularity and fame I understood but that’s only because he has big friends, not big songs. He’ll wash up and mold.

2. Elnur is mad talented. Give him grand staging and a intensely metal but softly European type song and he’ll eat the betting odds.

I’m surprised, but not unpleasantly. Their song in 2008 was a love/hate one, and I ranked it somewhere in the middle. But, he has a smashing voice and surely is really talented. Hoping for a really good song.

Imagine if it’s not him, but the other one from Day after Day. The one with the devilish looks? Hahahaha…that would certainly be the unexpected return.

“Turkish news site Radikal recently ran a story entitled ‘Elnur goes to Eurovision again!'”….Wrong use of entitled. And that’s not just here but many folks use entitled incorrectly. Entitled is when something or a right should be granted to you or someone. Titled is the correct form.

Anywho, I would be happy to see Elnur back on stage, although image if it’s a swerve and its both Elnur and his 2008 partner…or just the other guy that isn’t Elnur. Forgot his name.

His performance in 2008 was cringe worthy, it seriously scarred me for life, it was creepy as hell. He has a good voice, so hopefully Azerbaijan will deliver like (almost) always.

Oh this douche.. He is the only azerbaijani participant that Azerbaijan has sent to Vision that i don’t like actually.. Ok he is handsome and yes he IS gay himself as it is very obvious to me..{the same with Eldar & Farid..} And by the way, really lame to go and compete on the Voice talent show…He is already famous and has active status 4 many years now so it should be not eligible 4 him to get accepted anyway and should just live this 4 others participants that would be actually unknown non discovered amateurs singers yet….He is not even… Read more »

“Day After Day” is one of my least favourite Eurovision songs ever, so I’m really hoping this isn’t true but I can’t see any reasons for it not to point to him. Hopefully he has a better song.
