Ieieeeeeeooo! RTVE has finally released Edurne‘s official music video for “Amanecer”, her Eurovision 2015 song. In this glossy, high-end video, we see the sun rising — not just on Edurne, but also on her chances of success at Eurovision. Dressed as a Hellenic warrior, she takes us on a musical and spiritual journey — and four fabulous costume changes. She even morphs into a tiger. Hear her roar, y’all! Directed by David Arnal and Germán de la Hoz, it’s a real triumph of cinematography and 3-D effects. Edurne recorded the video in January in Valencia.

Reactions to Edurne’s song

Year after year we have a different kind of “Eurodrama” in Spain. Last year, we enjoyed a civil war between the followers of Ruth Lorenzo and Brequette, and this year we are suffering from a new kind of “Spanish fever” in which everybody defends passionately their own opinion about “Amanecer”. Some think that it’s a masterpiece poised to triumph at ESC, while others label it an over-hyped dissapointment. On the whole, Edurne has been very pleased.

But it seems that the opinion among the Eurovision VIPs is unanimous: Almost all of them have publicly expressed their support. Pastora Soler was the most effusive: “Massive interpretation and wonderful song. Congratulations to all.”

In the same direction, Soraya published a tweet to support Edurne. They both emerged from the “Operación Triunfo” talent show (just as Rosa López, Beth and Ramón). “I like Amanecer. Sometimes a simple song with feeling is more effective. I speak from my own experience,” Soraya said.

Other artists like Javi Soleil (of D’nash) and Lucia Pérez showed their public support. For the moment Ruth Lorenzo has not spoken publicly about the song, though she previously appluaded Edurne’s selection.

Meanwhile Edurne has thanked all of her followers: “I’m so relaxed and happy with “Amanecer” IEIEEEEEEEEOOOO ” .

This is our three of our UK-based bloggers reacted to Edurne’s song. I think they like it.

Hi everyone, this morning, VEVO has released the videoclip of “Amanecer” in HD (the one uploadad by RTVE was of lower video quality). You can found it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9KWjZ4rLmE&feature=youtu.be&a

I think it’s great to read how many Spaniards are behind their own entry. Last year, all the pressed Brequetta fans were heavily panning Ruth. Let’s hope Spain does better than 10th this year. I’m glad most of Big Four countries are taking ESC seriously.

I’m so happy. After a few years with awful songs (especially Pastora’s and Ruth Lorenzo’s songs, I couldn’t stand them) we FINALLY have a great entry. Wonderful song, lovely voice, great person, thank you Edurne!

Love the song, but will she pull of those notes in the final?

I like the video, it’s very good and Edurne looks so beautiful. The song is currently charting at #13 on Spanish iTunes which is very good.

As a huge fan of Pastora Soler’s and Ruth Lorenzo’s songs (my favourite ESC songs ever), it’s hard not to be a bit dissapointed by this song… It’s not bad at all, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t impress me like Quedate Conmigo or Dancing In The Rain… With that being said, with a good show and, of course, perfect singing, this could do very well indeed in the final.

As far as the video goes…I don’t feel the need to watch it, sorry…

I really HATE this video and I’m not so keen on the song either.

I really hope she doesn’t go over the top with her performance in the final, as that might hinder her chances. As for the video, to be honest, it wasn’t worth the wait.

Wow! Well-done, Edurne! This song was and remains in my top 3! Yes, there are elements of LOTR in the vid, so perhaps not most original, but well put together! You can see that Spain is really taking ESC 2015 seriously, unlike some countries (hint: UK). Video aside, we need to see this performed LIVE so as to better judge her voice and song in the scheme of things! Best of luck, Spain! 🙂

I’m not sure I like the video, it’s very LOTR meets Madrid Fashion Week meets Animorphs lol.

the powerfull message mean ; love in all the world , peace in all the world and bla bla bla , that is what is really kitch, the song from Edurne is really powerfull and beatiful , i dont care about the video , we dont go to see the video 23 May in the stage , but she , with all her beauty

This is kinda extravagant, artificial and kitsch. It reminds me of Lord of the Ring, Xena, Hercules, The Life of Pi, Jungle Book. The fairytale story in the video is soo cheesy and hilarious. Can someone explain it to me what is this about? It also reminds me of last year artificious and plagiarized video for “Miracle”.
As for the song: is monotonous, repetitive and it doesn’t send any powerful message

I think the video could be better.it doesnt impress you as the song does.the song deserved better video, and a better video clip story.but the song itself is amazing!simply Amazing!! it impressed me from the first seconds I heard it! Sorry, but i’m feeling really awkward, watching this videoclip. It is so cheesy:/ Like from the beginning of the century. The man is shown in a hilarious way. Such a good song deserves something more sophisticated and of higher quality.

I’m spanish and I don’t understand why people from my country say bad things about this song and video… It isn’t perfect…But I think it’s amazing. Good job Edurne! And please spanish people try to give more support to our country…

The video means nothing. Conchita had a horrible video last year.

This is a contender for victory. Personally I don’t see it lower than third place, like Zlata Ognevich 2 years ago. Like Zlata, she is breathtakingly gorgeous and has an amazing voice. But like “Gravity” this song might strike a lot of people as a little too calculated for the purpose of winning.

OMFG, can’t be happier atm. Edurne is such a gorgeous goddess! The clip itself needed just a bit of polishing as some of the 3D effects look a bit cheap, but the overall result is simply BREATHTAKING. TBH I’m bored of how Spaniards are trying to take this down with their comments. It’s gonna be Edurne with ‘Amanecer’, and the music video looks how it looks, end of story. Get over it, b*tches! IDK if I should feel proud of my country for such an amazing entry in this Eurovision, or just pissed off cos’ of the tons of haters… Read more »

Just because there are better videos from other countries it doesn’t matter and means nothing really..
We didn’t say here that the videoclip of *Amanecer* is the no1 best as there is no need and point at all to compare it with any others..
It has its own identity and we discuss here only 4 Spain alone..

@Duff so, are you saying that you would like more the song just considering Edurne’s dress in the Final? then, the common linnets would have been your last place of we judge the dress-looks…

4 our own level that we have in our Vision of Gay Love in our Europe this video is so cool <3 🙂 Its not fair at all to compare it with the videos of america & hollywood.. We have our own standards and we are different.. They kept the video clip simple without too many gimmicks and effects or else it could had passed as pretentious wannabe fake.. To try too much impressing the others can have whole different outcome that is the negative instead of positive.. You see americans wasting tones of money 4 movies that are pure… Read more »

I expect so much better video for this song. For me Italy, UK have better video for their song than Spain.

@Luis D: that’s right, but remember, even though you see negative aspects on Amanecer video, it is wise to not show it on websites, because that would change somebody’s mind about the video and thus, the song. Even though Ruth and Pastora had perfect songs, their years were strong, with potential winners songs. This year, Only Estonia and Spain have the “Special thing” that a winner needs.
The other songs, even though there are some amazing and gorgeous songs like Italy, Georgia,Malta, or even my Country, Slovenia, they lack of that “winner” feeling that Spain or Estonia produces to you.

Best song so far, but that’s not difficult since all acts so far are at best horribly boring, and at worst pure crap:
1. Spain
2. Italy
3. Malta

Amazing!
Spaniards please, stop devaluating your own song and video, Europe just LOVES it!
The song is powerful, Edurne has a great voice, she is stunningly beautiful and her video is one of the best clips among all in this Contest!

Good luck and GO SPAIN!

@Tinkarafan Don’t get me wrong, I like the song! I said it IS a good song (I personally preferred ‘Dancing in the rain’, but this one is good), and yeah, we Spaniards tend to criticize all of what we do. It is not my case though!

This is a good song and I think we’ll have a good performance. However, the music video is definitely cheesy.

But it’s not Eurovision Music Video Contest, right? We only have to take a look at Conchita’s haha

@Luis D, you Spaniards have an underrated view of your entries, seriously, how comes that almost everybody in europe loves it (me being the first of’em) and every Spanish coment I see is critizicing your own song, I mean, that does not project a good look towards europe if you want to have a chance to win and, believe me, this year is pretty weak, And Spain is one of the few countries with truly potential to win

I’m from Spain and I feel very disappointed… It is a good song and we were supposed to watch a WOW video, but it’s just… Cheap, as someone said before.

Anyway, I hope we’ll make a better performance than this.

“Dancing In The Rain” was better, but “Amanecer” has better chance for good result due to weak rivals in ESC 2015.
