Guy Sebastian released his Eurovision song “Tonight Again”, a funky, sexy, upbeat soul number, that seems deliberately calculated to stand out against all the dramatic ballads this year. But it’s more than just an upbeat song – could “Tonight Again” score Australia its first ever Eurovision win?

Guy Sebastian’s rich soul vocals combine with spirited backing singers and a brass trio (two more than Epic Sax Guy!). It a brings fresh and energetic sound. And as Guy sings, “This is one tough act to follow.”

The song encourages the listener to “do what you what” and to “forget tomorrow – we can do tonight again”. It’s a message that will resonate with Eurovision fans who wouldn’t mind experiencing the ESC final again.

Is this a message that could also win over the European voting public? Is Australia set to host its first Eurovision in 2016?

Reactions to “Tonight Again”

Guy Sebastian – Tonight Again lyrics (Australia)

Oh, everyone’s got their problems
There’s always something on your mind
Oh, but tonight we ain’t gotta solve them
For tonight let’s leave them all behind

Oh, do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Oh get on it, ooh get on it

I don’t want tomorrow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Tonight’s so good
This is one tough act to follow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Forget tomorrow – we can do tonight again

Oh oh oh oh
We can do tonight again
Oh oh oh oh
We can do tonight

Oh, some people might call you crazy
They say we only live for fun
They may be right but only maybe
I can guarantee what we got is what we want
(Ain’t that right?)

Do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Oh get on it, ooh get on it

I don’t want tomorrow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Tonight’s so good
This is one tough act to follow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Forget tomorrow – we can do tonight again

Oh oh oh oh
We can do tonight again
Oh oh oh oh
Oh, we can do tonight
Oh oh oh oh
We can do tonight again
Oh oh oh

Do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Do what you what you what you want
Oh, get on it, ooh get on it

I don’t want tomorrow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Tonight’s so good
This is one tough act to follow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Forget tomorrow – we can do tonight agaaaain
Yeaaaah
Oooh
Tonight’s so good
This is one tough act to follow
Oh baby, tonight’s so good
Forget tomorrow – we can do tonight again

Oh oh oh oh
Forget tomorrow – we can do tonight agaaaaaain.

There are some really great reviews out there worldwide and this is one of them “Fresh off the back of his first national arena tour, and Australian Eurovision contender Guy Sebastian has hit the studio to write and record the insatiably catchy, “Tonight Again.”Featuring a strong R&B vibe mixed with Sebastian’s soulful vocals, the single is fun, electric and riveting enough to garner the star more than a few international fans, and hopefully, some votes to boot. The velvet sound of Sebastian’s voice opens the track with a simple piano backing, and we are shown the light and shade in… Read more »

Australia’s song has exceeded my expectations. I think it is totally the right choice. The sound of Tonight Again is completely different from the other songs in the competition. It is up tempo & uplifting. I think the lyrics are perfect for an auditorium full of people having a good time. Those flags will be flying. Guy’s vocals are amazing too.
Australia deserves to do well.

I love the song, but I don’t think it can win. Australia would not be welcome by a lot of Eurpean people, so I am thinking it will not get many votes. Just hope it will not come too low down. There are some in Australia just waiting for Guy to fail. At least top ten would be nice. Hope that happens at least. The song is great and Guy is a supreme vocalist, but I don’t think that is a factor here. The odds are against him.

well I for one love the song and hope he wins, I like the fact that he is not pretending to have a grand global message, and I;m so tired of the grand ballads on Eurovision year after year, or the PC votes, it’s pure music for music sake and as you said very fun and extremely well performed, maybe Eurovision can finally expand beyond Europe and become the global competition it should have become long time ago
