Back in February, a few days before Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät‘s victory at the Finnish national final, their lead singer Kari Aalto sat down with Finland’s 2012 Eurovision representative Krista Siegfrids to get to know her and see if the “Marry Me” singer had any advice.

Kari gets down to business with Krista, discussing her musical influences, relationships (she shows off her brand new engagement ring), his love of “Thai massage thingies” and motorbikes.

Kari has a wicked sense of humour and Krista shares some laughs with him. He asks if her musical idols are Madonna and saucy ’80s pop divas Sabrina and Samantha Fox, which makes us wonder if this crusty old punk is secretly a fan of ’80s HI-NRG pop.

It’s a really sweet interview, and like Krista did in Malmö in 2013, Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät is sure to give a memorable performance in Vienna. They are much more than a backstory, y’all.

All that this interview does for me is show how much these guys have done their homework. When artists of any kind, not just Eurovision contestants, show how much they know about and how open their minds are to genres that have nothing to do with the kind of music they perform, it shows me how precise and well-researched their work is and makes me appreciate it a lot more.

they’re aiming too much at the Finnish demographic, which already loves them
I’m not sure if the guys in PKN speak English/French/Spanish/German/Russian/Italian/Swedish , but they don’t seem to be reaching any other European audience that might vote for them
I don’t think they can get the sympathy vote if nobody can connect with them outside of Finland

I always enjoy listening to Aina Mu Pitta. It is a great song. It is pure punk. It is wonderful that PKN bring something new to Eurovision. We don’t need any more wailing women.

@ Yeah…
I support them all the way 4 belonging to this special social group of mentally disabled Syndorme Down people
but i just dislike heavily their HORRIBLE song & thats all {although i said that they don’t look friendly to me as people not bcause of their speciality of course.. I do not have any problem with them having syndrome down..Why would I..? }

I just rate / judge the songs & NOT the acts mainly..

Agreed Mario.

Many people today wouldn’t dream of prejudicing a person for their sexuality, but the taboo about mentally challenged people is still one that hasn’t been lifted.

Much like gay icons in the past and present, these guys will be the trailblazers and the face of a prejudiced minority for years to come.

I for one love the song for its message and will cheer these guys on in Vienna.

Ok i might think that their song not only suck & is horrible {the only song that i have rated with zero grade having the last 40th place of my top40..} but its possibly the worst song ever in our Vision.. {i really dislike this music genre that is heavy metal rock 4 the record..} & these guys don’t look really sympathetic.. BUT i would give them my vote & propose 4 them to win the title 4 the most beautiful act of Vienna’s Diamond Vision.. <3 🙂 Yes…They are indeed beautiful on their own special way & they are… Read more »
