Along with host country Austria and guest country Australia, the Big Five — France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom — receive an automatic qualification to the grand final of Eurovision. We have a lot to thank the Big Five for, as their coins help keep the contest going. This year we can thank them even more for sending some quality entries!

At the moment four out of seven automatic qualifiers are ranked in the Top 15 in the Eurovision betting odds, including Italy’s Il Volo, Australia’s Guy Sebastian, the United Kingdom’s Electro Velvet and Spain’s Edurne. Germany, France and Austria sit at the bottom of the odds table – but we love their entries nonetheless. They all earned huge applause at recent promo events in London and Amsterdam.

But who is YOUR favourite? You can listen to the seven automatic qualifiers below and then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many acts as you would like, but you can only vote ONE time. This poll will close on May 22 at 23:59 CET, just before the grand final on May 23. Let us know what you think!

Australia – ‘Tonight Again’ by Guy Sebastian

Austria – ‘I Am Yours’ by The Makemakes

France – ‘N’oubliez pas’ by Lisa Angell

Germany – ‘Black Smoke’ by Ann Sophie

Italy – ‘Grande Amore’ by Il Volo

Spain – ‘Amanecer’ by Edurne

United Kingdom – ‘Still In Love With You’ by Electro Velvet

Poll: Big 5 + Austria and Australia

Here’s how my automatic entries fared in my 2nd evaluation: 9.58 Italy (1st in final, 1st overall). The video paying homage to 3 movies was a genius move and pretty much says it all. 9.54 Australia (2nd/2nd). An excellent good song with a very good video. 9.38 Austria (11th/11th). Makemakes need a music video if they want to break into my top 10. 9.35 Spain (13th/13th). The video sells this song slightly better than the song itself. I imagine the stage CGI will also do the same for the performance. 9.35 France (14th/14th). The song and video sell this performance… Read more »

7. Germany

UK and Germany fighting for 27th place in the Final. It will depend on how badly UK screws things up this time. A general audience (that doesn’t know the back story) is not going to vote for a head-waggling Fran Drescher sound-alike.

1. Germany (9/10) 2. Spain (8/10) 3. France (6,5/10) 4. Uk (6/10) 5. Austria (5,5/10) 6. Italy (4/10) 7. Australia (1/10) What a let down to see guy is resperenting Australia… and saying that Australia can participate every year if he wins… he’s the president of Australia? The song is trying to be special, but it fails. They had so many options to send… The Veronicas with Cruel maybe… or any other artist… ofc a top 10 spot for a song that doesn’t desurve it… Germany is great this year, they always send something OK, but nothing more. This year… Read more »

With all the lately hype of being hot favorite 4 the victory among the bookies & Australia is currently 4th(!) on the poll on the big7 entries alone! I really can not imagine in how much lower place the australian song would finish if all the 40 countries existed on the poll.. So give me a break please that this song can considered a winning material.. Mainly no one eurofan thinks that this song deserves to win…{and i do not mean the exceptions of few fans..} It will not gonna win either on the OGAE voting.. If Australia wins in… Read more »

As an ESC fan of more than 40 years
I may proud to lean out and here is my last prediction:
THE WINNER AT THIS YEAR ESC 2015 Vienna will be
Guy Sebastian & that ‘s Australia .
100 % I am sure , Believe It or Not !
Basta , Finito , Capito…my friends 🙂 ha ha …

Remember please last year I predicted Conchita Wurst
as the winner of the ESC 2014 and that 5 months in advance !

So don’t be silly, please bet only your money on Australia,
the winner takes it all…..all “tonight again”. AUSTRALIA

My prediction is that Italy will win the contest. I’m taking clues from the Junior Eurovision last year, which had a similar situation. There were a lot of females with ballads, and the winning entry was a male singing a moderate-tempo, very Italian-sounding song similar to what Italy has in the adult contest now.

Other predictions based on JESC:
Expect Israel to do well (like Armenia in JESC)
Sweden won’t do as well as people expect (consider the Netherlands in JESC)
“Ordinary” pop songs like Portugal and Iceland may score very low.

I think the Automatic Qualifiers are unusually strong this year. All seven could be in the Top 15. The juries ratings and comments here are no predictor of actual finish. After all, the jury had Conchita Wurst at 13 last year (although everyone now is acting like it was the only obvious choice). My order would be:
1. UK
2. France
3. Italy
4. Austria
5. Spain
6. Australia
7. Germany

Mario – you talk the biggest pile of poo I have ever heard. You are one of those very annoying fanboys with a very closed mind. You like what you like and have no idea or appreciation for anything else. You are the worse kind of eurovision fan. Annoying as hell and verging on stupid.
