It’s been a bit of a wait, but last night we finally got to see Belgium’s Loïc Nottet perform “Rhythm Inside” in front of an audience for the first time. Between his internal selection and the delegation’s snubbing of the preview circuit, we’ve only had live radio sessions to go on. They confirmed that Loïc’s vocals were on point, but what about his performance? He seemed to have a fondness for singing with his eyes shut, leading to fears that he would fail to connect with the crowd.

Well y’all needn’t have worried. Belgian tv viewers witnessed an epic homecoming, as Loïc returned to The Voice Belgique, the show on which he finished runner-up last year. And he slayed. Everything was stunning – the vocals, his styling, the staging. There’s already been mutterings online about the backing dancers. We got two things to say – 1. Loïc’s confirmed that he won’t be bringing them to Vienna, and 2. The overall performance was too mesmerising for us to care. Be still my rapapabab heart!

Belgium have been slowly but surely creeping up both fan and bookie rankings. And with the potential for something similar to this in Vienna, it’s little wonder that he currently sits atop the Wiwi Jury leaderboard. Are Belgium onto a winner? Let us know below.

Something that just occurred to me: If Loic+singers are indeed performing their actual staging (and I think they are, or at least something really close), than I have a wild guess: could it be that the white outfits will be used for projections? Their cutting, color and the fact that they all stand still throughout the entire song… if this is the case it can be amazing!

It could be a surprising winner if Italy fails to deliver. Belgium has a mainstream sound, super cute and talented singer and an intriguing performance. Fingers crossed he will be awesome in the live performance.

GO BELGIUM!

PS: Will Belgium overshadow the Netherlands?

Brilliant song. It is in my Top 10. Rhythm Inside is so different from all other songs this year.
With amazing staging, this will break from the pack and shoot for the top.
I am glad the dancers aren’t going to Vienna. They are stage clutter & a distraction.
In Wiwi speak, Loic’s vocals are “on point and will slay, y’all”.

I liked it but there was too much going on with the dancers and singers but not enough on him. 🙁 He should be the main focus instead and others should complement him. 6.5/10

I cant stand the song. It sounds so cheap, nothing new really. Vocally good, but i dont like the performance at all, it’s so messy. Will do well, but he cant beat Sweden, Australia and Italy, they all have better looks and much better (more commerical) songs.

Still AWFUL!!!!

Okay I love the studio version I just don’t feel like it translates well on stage. The backing is poor too, and he’s not brilliant live (he’s okay)

after this performance I can say that Loic has a great voice live. He give it all performing but due to the tempo of the song it feels like he is really forcing himself at the end of it. The energy of the song on stage still quite dark, I dont think Loic has smiled or half smiled at any moment of the song, even Loreen had a moment where she half smiled and looked at the camera with hope, not the case of Loic.

The staging can be very good and whatever you want (I reckon it’s not so good).. but the song in live is SO BORING.

Exciting, but I think they should cut out about half the action. It’s too distracting. He should let the others to most of the dancing. I also think that Loïc should smile a little bit, as he does at the end of the video. If was planning a session of rapapabab tonight, I’d be smiling.

Oh dear, I love this song and I really want it to do well.

The backup singers don’t work, he needs backing vocals instead. Loic needs to improve on his live vocals as well. The dancers are good but shouldn’t be a distraction.

It should also be noted that he’s only 19. He hasn’t released any album and doesn’t have the experience of the likes of Guy Sebastian, Mans, Il Volo, etc. who all released several albums and have been performing for years.

Just Mehh…
It’s a good performance, but personally, I don’t like his voice (especially at the chorus where he’s on a high note and tends to scream) and the song in whole is just OK, yet nothing special – It’s a bit flat and too clean (instrumental/production wise) for my taste.
It surely deserves a place in the Grand final and in my ranking it’s 10-15.

Good luck to Belgium anyway!

Well although i don’t really like Belgium’s song i think that with all this hype & the fact that too many eurofans like/love it including the wiwi juries that Belgium can do possibly great in Vienna’s Vision finishing on a rather high place in the top10 at the best scenario..
But i have my doubts if Belgium can win the whole EuroVision…I don’t really see that happening…But i do not exclude it 100% as you never know on the other way..

To me it looks like half pf this is exactly Belgium 2015 – just take off the dancers and add an artistic background of some sort. Looks like Loic will do all the dancing, and the video shows that quite the dancer he is. 4-6 in the final for me.

Wow, this is what rocking a stage is about. He’s great. Belgium is in my top 10, i hope the staging in Vienna to be at least as good as this one.

That performance was out-of-this-world amazing; Belgium are back in my top ten after a week or so off. The staging may be able to top Slovenia in terms of Eurovisionesque wackiness.

A douze points performance. I think he should stick with the dancers rather than the backing dancers. I think after this performance it might be belgium 2016.
