On Tuesday May 12 acts from eight countries — Serbia, Hungary, Belarus, Russia, Denmark, Albania, Romania and Georgia — took to the stage for their first rehearsals. Inside the press center, the team took note of the cheers (Polina Gagarina’s clever usage of pyro, Nina Sublatti’s other-worldly LEDs) and jeers (Maimuna’s lack of an oversized hourglass, Bojana’s Bride-of-Frankenstein hairdo). You can watch our recap of the winners and losers below, followed by our instant reactions filmed immediately after each rehearsal. Click on the country to read our rehearsal review. Who was your winner today? Let us know in our Day 2 rehearsal poll.

First Rehearsals: Day 2 Winners and Losers (Review)

I think that screen bombarded with all kinds of light and other images (like Georgia’s) take away focus from the actual performance from the artist. Countries that has a more minimalistic staging usually win in the end. Even MĂĄns will be minimalistic in some ways, but with a twist..

Even though I don’t like Georgia’s, Hungary’s and Russia’s songs, I have to admit that they had the best rehearsals and they are surely sailing to the final. Albania disappointed a bit but I guess they’ll find a way to work it out. Denmark and Romania were alright, nothing special though. Belarus was really forgettable, if they don’t have something else I’m afraid they are gonna miss out this year. Serbia didn’t get it right in my book either. It was really kitsch, they could’ve done something else. My top 8 of the day: 1. Hungary 2. Georgia 3. Russia… Read more »

Not seeing why Albania was bad from the 30 seconds we got to see… hopefully all the issues will be sorted out because I would love to see Elhaida do well! Nina and Polina looked flawless and Bojana looks remarkable in her own way <3

Russia, Albania and Georgia all stood out on Day Two’s rehearsals; all for different reasons. They should all be fine for the final now. Hungary and Denmark did very well for what they had to give. For Serbia my advice would be just do what you want; be even more outrageous – it’s Eurovision!! 🙂 Belarus was the biggest disappointment; I feel sorry for them. Has the giant sand timer not arrived yet? Romania have some thinking to do about the technical side; they know that anyhow so hopefully they can figure out how to convey more emotion in the… Read more »

Well i had my doubts if Georgia would qualify to the final but now with all this great feeback from the eurofans i feel positive that Nina will manage to be qualifier & even do really good on the SF.. 🙂
The fact that she will appear last will definitely work 4 her increasing her chances..
I want her to win since her song is my #1 most favorite from all but i do not really think that she will win on next Saturday unfortunately..

Maybe I’m just biased since they’re my three favorites in this half of the first semi, but Georgia, Serbia, and Albania really did have the best rehearsals today.
