Chris: John seems pretty comfortable with what he did on Thursday: Standing in the middle of the stage and singing his heart out. But unlike some of the other acts, this one doesn’t ever really hit you in the arena – it’s all perhaps a little bit too nice. John is, however, one of the most engaging acts when you watch him on screen. He really seems to feel every note. It’s all very much a tale of two halves.
Real lack of charm and charisma. The same night skies in the background we have seen a thousand times by now in this semi. Stuck between Sweden and Switzerland (with another nocturnal background) before him and Slovenia after him. Nothing much happening and the exact same expression on his face for three long minutes. Any hint of warmth or emotion buried deep behind his glasses.
Cyprus will not be in the final.

I think it’s gonna be the surprise qualifier of the semi final. Simple, yet engaging and really meaningful. I think the Scandinavians will love it. I can see this picking up top points from Sweden, Iceland, United Kingdom and Australia at the semis. With some lower points from Malta and Norway it should be enough to make him sail through.
no matter how much I hate this song, 1:53 always gives me chills
I actually like the first two minutes of it but it gets a bit too sugary and syrupy for the final minute and they lose some of their authenticity with all those sweeping violins.
I do think he’ll qualify quite comfortably but I’ve a sneaking suspicion he will be right side of the table in the final
Performance is actually okay, but not a fan of the song :/
It is good to see him attacking some of those notes in the last thirty seconds. That might wake up some of the listeners. One minute of black screen for this song is just one big slumbermask.
