Polina Gagarina stormed to second place at Eurovision 2015 with “A Million Voices” — her anthem to peace which was staged with beautiful white lights. Several days before her triumphant performance, wiwiblogger Deban Aderemi met up with Polina inside Wiener Stadhalle. Filmed after her second rehearsal, she was a bundle of joy as she talked about our search for Eurovision’s Next Top Model and explained that Yuri Gagarin — the famous Russian cosmonaut — shared her last name. She also dished on balancing motherhood and work and her reaction when she received the call to sing at Eurovision. Her reaction is priceless. Congrats on a fabulous performance and finish, Polina!

I’m so glad she didn’t win. She seems to be quite dumb. But then again, that’s Russian culture. In the end she says, a GIRL has to smile, GIRLS always have to smile. Huh? Only girls? That’s her message? “A girl should be wearing a smile like a dress”? What a lot of sexist and old-fashioned nonsense. Besides, her performance was boring.

A beautiful young woman, a strong voice, and a showstopping performance. If there is justice in the world, we’ll be hearing “A Million Voices” for years to come.

She was my fav this Eurovision and it sucked not to see her take the trophy home (but how many countries would drop of if she did?)

Hope to hear things just as big from Polina Gagarina as this Euro.
