Kate Ryan has dropped the question Eurofans have been dying to hear: Should she return to Eurovision in 2016? Her Twitter fans are unanimous in screaming a full-blown ‘yes’. But it seems like she was ready to get back in the game regardless of what they said.

Even Eurovision fan favourite Kate Ryan is going to have to fight for the right though. Shortly after the final of Eurovision 2015, Dutch-language broadcaster VRT announced details of their national selection show for Eurovision 2016. They will not select an artist internally, and will instead stage a contest revolving around five to-be-decided artists. Assuming that VRT chooses Kate as one of the four (we strongly recommend they do), she will have to out-perform four other acts perspiring euro-pop ambition.

Since crashing out of the contest back in Greece in 2006, Kate has remained a huge Eurovision fan. This year she rooted for Latvia, Sweden and of course…

Kate Ryan in Eurovision

Kate Ryan represented Belgium at Eurovision in 2006 with “Je t’adore”. Tipped as once of the favourites, she finished in 12th place in the semi final with 69 points. That meant no final for Miss Ryan or La Belgique.

Kate may have competed in Belgium’s national selection in 2014 as part of the group ‘Day One’. However, since the band members wore masks and refused to reveal their identity, the speculation remains speculation.

What do you think? Would you like to see Kate back at Eurovision?

Minha linda esposa Katrien…mais conhecida como Kate Ryan merece participar deste grande evento musical por ser na atualidade a linda Rainha da dance music do planeta.

Her music style is the typical Europop overproduced schlagger music that tends to be successful in Eurovision. Not really my cup of tea, but she might actually do well… I wouldn’t expect her to take any risks like Loïc Nottet did with a very avant-garde quality song, but who knows?

In 2006 this kind of music was very popular. Nowadays, it sounds very dated. Moreover, this performance reminds me how much Eurovision has changed over the last decade. From contemporary perspective, it just looks tacky. Yet, I remember that I was very surprised she didn’t qualify. She seemed perfect for such a show. Maybe the song was too ‘European’, but not “Eurovision” enough. Additionally, the block/diaspora voting of that time could impact.

I’m still wondering if that was her singing in DAY ONE, and who were the others?

She should have went to the final in 2006, because her music fit that period perfectly. Sadly, her music is still kinda stuck in that period and would not do well in 2016. Is she decided to bring something young and exciting, then sure, but I doubt she’ll change her ‘style’ to participate.

She has a lot of fans in whole Europe, countries like Germany, Russia, Spain, Estonia, Poland really know her and really like her so she can do well. And Kate Ryan is a notmal person shy one, without any scandals around her, she is really cool in my opinion. Thums up for her

She is only 34, she’s still young 😀 She can do well, if she has really really good song, because her voice is so good (watched liefde voor muziek)

Why not? Kaliopi did a similar thing before. So long as Kate Ryan’s music is more unique and trendy compared to her entry in 2006.

In spite of the camera people messing up the video, I still think she should have been in the final in Athens. It would cool to see her back, but with a good song with contemporary sound and improved performance skills.

She probably deserves another shot at it but following Loic is not really a good idea.

i would prefer DAY ONE .. they are amazing and unique .. the should have represented Belgium in 2014 even if “whoever you are ” wasn’t such a strong entry .. with something really great they would do very well !!

That would be so wonderful! J’adore “Je t’adore,” so more Kate Ryan would be much appreciated.

Kate’s music sounds dated now though.

She wants to revive her career and seeing Belgium’s recent success, she wants to do Eurovision BUT i think it’s a recipe that is going to fail. 🙁

choose a young artist like Loic with a catchy modern tune.

I hope for a powerpop song in French! They could even win with that!
Lots of familiar faces wanting to make a come back I see.

If she can have a song just as good as Je t’adore, she could definitely win the selection and make it to the final!

“Je t’adore” was a very strong pop song I’m still surprised didn’t qualify. It wasn’t even that her vocals were off. Definitely one of the biggest ESC injustices of all time. I’d be happy to see her back, of course only with a good song though.
