Sound the trumpets. Blast some “Te Deum”. Let wiwivision 2015 commence! After yesterday’s launch party, it’s time to kick-off the first semi-final in our alternative song contest. The country list is the same as Eurovision 2015, but this time the songs and acts have been chosen by the wiwibloggs team. The 16 entries below all want a spot in the grand final. However, we can only let ten progress.

wiwivision 2015 trailer

Who goes and who stays will be determined by a 50/50 split between readers and the Wiwi Jury. For more details on the voting rules and song selection criteria, click HERE.

You can listen to the first 16 semi-finalists below. This isn’t a tv show, so we’ve decided to move away from the producer-led running order favoured by the EBU. The draw is completely random. Obviously, y’all can ignore it and pick and choose who you want to hear first. It’s up to you!

Once you’re ready, vote in our poll. You can vote for as many entries as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every entry you want to support before submitting your votes. Voting ends on Sunday 28 June and the ten qualifiers will be revealed on Tuesday 30 June.

Of course, y’all can do more than just vote. We have a comment box for a reason – what do you think of our choices? Would you have chosen differently? Who would you have picked instead? And how do our choices rate compared to the “real” Eurovision entries? Let us know!

Is Tamta from Georgia or Greece, she’s representing Georgia, but her song could have been in the Greek ESC-selection

Hey Guys! Nice idea, but most of the videos are blocked in Germany, Is there any playlist (spotify, deezer) where we can listen to the songs?

i only voted for hungary cuz i absolutely love it!! the song is great and it doesn’t hurt that the singer is hot.

i think the songs that are selected should’ve been limited to 3 minutes to make it as close to eurovision as possible.

Many great songs!! I like Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Finland, Romania…Demy from Greeece is amazing!! But you didn’t pick the best song of her…I like it a lot though! Btw Tamta’s song shouldn’t be competing for Georgia! This song was written for the GREEK national final. Anyway..its a great song and this is what maters…;)

Finland haven’t got enough votes, very sad about this. Why people vote for Romania and Hungary????I think this contest must change something, but now I am seeing that really good songs are so underrated !!! I think if this be more popular (200,000 votes), Finland have got 3d or better result!

I think Sandra Van Nieuwland was the best choice for the Netherlands (I’m from Italy). I absolutely love her song, Oxygen: it’s so magical,so good… I can’t find the words to describe this song. Anyway, I like your choice Mike, well done but it’s not good as Hungary and Georgia’s one. It’s my 6th!

And I haven’t forgotten about Belgium. Again, they really need to consider sending Selah Sue next year. That song is smokin’! Was this song even eligible for ESC 2015 by the time the Belgian internal selection committee chose Loïc? In any case, the young lions are putting Belgium back in the spotlight.

CookyMonzta

@Hanner McSinny/Calvin: …And so is the music. If it had been released a couple of months later, it might have been eligible for this year’s ESC; and for some strange reason, I think this song might have presented even more of a challenge against Måns than even Polina’s.

Be that as it may, the girls run the show for Russia. The sooner they send a guy, all bets are off.

My personal top 16: Georgia, Denmark, Moldova, Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Finland, The Netherlands, Russia, Armenia, FYR Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Belarus, Albania, Estonia

I’ve only listened to each song once or twice, so it’s likely to change, though I can’t see myself ever liking Estonia’s song. Honestly, other than my top five, none of the other songs are that good.

Well Georgia’s song that is 2nd is stronger & better than Hungary’s that is 1st although the hungarian song is beautiful of course. Albania’s song is currently 11th and it has tie with the 10th…But although i can vote for it with one more 2nd vote im not gonna do it as its against my policy to vote more than one time & rig the poll even with just one addiotional vote.. Really pity that Albania is so low in the ranking as the song is very good & one of the best ones on the SF.. Some songs that… Read more »

Inna, really? If you wanted something with good radio play you should have actually chosen something decent like Bittman’s “Si ingerii au demonii lor”. Seriously, listen to this and tell me it’s not far better than Inna’s overrated crap:

We could vote tactically so to try saving our favorite songs & not vote others on purpose but that would be not fair of course.. I just voted my 10 most liked songs & it doesn’t matter that numerous of them had already big amount of votes compared with others that gathered much less votes.. I truly think that how many other voters are going to do this & vote tactically.. 4 all of us to have the option to witness & know how many votes exactly each of these songs has is risky because there is high chance of… Read more »

Armenia is very underrated sadly…It is currently in the last(!) place unfortunately when its my 2nd most favorite…So pity..
Albania is 11th when is my 3rd favorite…It is very good song…I hope that at least it well get enough votes so to finish just 10th & manage to qualify..

Moldova is underrated as well & is currently 12th…Its my 5th favorite song on the SF..

Well it seems that Armenia can not get saved with being in the rock bottom of the scoreboard but there is still hope though 4 Albania & Moldova to get rescued..

Well i think that it was not the best idea 4 the names of each WiWi contributor to be revealed and 4 us to be aware about who has which country & song..
I feel bad 4 the WiWi contributors that i have ranked their songs too low in my own SF ranking..
Im just sorry guys but i tried my best to be not biased & vote with fair way according to my own personal criteria & preferences..

Scandinavia has so many great musicians.. From Sweden I hope for Laleh, Elias or maybe Seinabo Sey’s “Younger” or Naomi Pilgrim’s “It’s all good”.. Elias got like one single but it is really touching and his voice is amazing.. From Laleh you could choose song both in Swedish or English cause she has this unique voice.. From Denmark I was hoping for New Politics, Ida Kudo or Turboweekend..

What a coincidence that Georgia was my own personal #1 favorite song in the Vision of Vienna <3 🙂

Georgia rocks & shines like a diamond this year in 2015 as it seems <3 🙂

A disappointing first semi final. Finland stands out as the strongest. Hungary made me stop and listen and a good opener from Denmark and Netherlands having a good try. All songs had roughly the same tempo and sound regardless of language. Fingers crossed for some diversity in semi final 2.
