For the past four days y’all have been voting like crazy in the semi-finals of wiwivision 2015 – our alternative song contest. Over 4,000 votes have already been cast! But it’s time to ease off on the polls (for a few minutes at least), and just enjoy the music as we reveal the entries for the seven automatic qualifiers – Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

WIWIVISION 2015 TRAILER

Semi-Finals

As you will remember, our correspondents have each adopted a country and selected a hypothetical entry for the song contest. In a bid to maintain some degree of reality, we’re keeping the structure used by the EBU in 2015 – the same 40 countries, two semi finals and one grand final with the twenty qualifiers plus seven automatic qualifiers. Essentially, we’re reliving Eurovision 2015 but with our own personal song choices.

The semi-final one and two polls will remain open until Sunday 28 June and Monday 29 June respectively. The results will then be combined with the scores of the Wiwi Jury to determine the finalists. The first ten qualifiers will be revealed on Tuesday 30 June, with the second batch being announced on Thursday 2 July. We will launch the grand final on Saturday 5 July. Excited yet?

I love the Spanish entry. I find Galician to be a very beautiful language and the song is really different. I wish Spain would send something like this to Eurovision

What? Spain? WHY? I don’t like it. I can’t feel nothing with that. I love Germany!

Spain’s not singing in Portuguese but Galician (a language from Galicia, region in the north of Spain, even though in the middle ages portuguese and Galician were the same language). Spain has more than one official language. Xoel Lopez has been in music since 1996, he was the man behind Deluxe,an awesome alternative band. Him or Vetusta Morla could be the perfect entry from Spain, being totally different from the other countries and from what Spain has chosen until now and not being just bad pop songs.

I mean Italy may have a point but Spain? The thing here is that these are BIG countries with many QUALITY artists in them. These are decent choices but Spain feels cheap and unfinished. I don’t think even the guy who chose it expects to win.

But anyway… I’m gloriously surprised by how fun this Wiwivision thingy is turning out. Rooting for Belarus (although it seems like very few people like it lol) and Austria. I’m so damn happy I’ve found these great songs.

Still, very very bad Spain.

Shy’m does extremely catchy songs. Unfortunately, she sounds awful when she sings live.

All my respects to him, but who the fuck is Xoel López? Seriously.

Oh no, more warrior women. We get a French extra from Mad Max & an Australia who has levelled up to become a Gladiator. Yawn.

I like the Spanish song which brings something new to the competition.

Of the automatic qualifiers, my fav is the UK.

@abedull It’s not Portuguese, it’s Galician, an official language of Spain 🙂

Oh Deban what the hell! The UK has SO much better music than that…Olly Murs has better songs than that even! With, out-dated as hell.

So, for me, it’s Belgium in the 1st round, Norway (most definitely) in the 2nd round, and Austria among the automatic entries. Kygo from Norway for the win!

For me, it’s a toss-up between Dami from Australia and Thorsteinn from Austria; and I’m leaning toward Thorsteinn on this one.

@mocosuburbian

Eurofans already know Nek from Sanremo. Why would we want to choose a national final artist that y’all already know when we could bring someone completely new to the spotlight?

oh nah
you picked an English song for Italy despite the country having a huge Italophone tradition
not cool
at least use somebody like Nek if you’re going to pick a rock song though
I quite like Germany’s and Spain’s though

Disappointed with the UK choice..but the UK and Australia are my only favourites of the bunch. Italy was ok. Shy’m could do better and Germany and Spain were just awful.

Olly Murs? Just yuck. I really dislike the Australian and Spanish (sorry!) songs .

The rest are pretty ok and I like the Austrian one a lot. The Italian one is a good song, I do not know the band but why is the singer using an English accent?

Maria

As a Galician from A Coruna, thanks for choosing a galician song by a musician from my city ^^ He represents that galicien music is more than bagpipes (even if I love Luar na Lubre and such bands) and that Spain is much more that flamenco.

George

Seriously, Olly Murs and Robin Schulz??? Thank God there’s no David Guetta for France!!! Play fair people, play fair.

Well I’m sure Shy’m would place us right up on left side of the final scoreboard but .. Sorry this song is one of her weakest for years ! She recently released ” l’effet de serre” which would rock eurovision instantly !

I’m from Galicia, Spain, and it’s a honor that Spanish entry sing in Galicianbut I think that in this kind of competition it’s better to sing in Spanish and better in English.
