Back in Oslo in 2010, Kristina worked her way into our hearts with her enchanting ethnic number “Horehronie”. In the five years that have followed she has totally revamped her style. In her latest song “Ta Ne” she moves away from traditional folk and gets flirty with rhythms and sounds of 1920’s dance (don’t worry, it’s not Electro Velvet part II). Singing in an eastern Slovak dialect, she plays on the phrase “ta ne”. It normally means “yes”, but in the scenario that Kristina creates it transforms into an ironic “No”, which you can clearly see in the video.

Kristina recently showed off her talent in the Czech movie “Zivot je zivot” (Life is life) with the song “No. 1”. She oozes star quality yet again with “Ta Ne” and its accompanying video. She chats on a vintage blue phone in her bubble gum pink room telling the story of one man who tries to pick her up on a train and in a restaurant — and she rejects him every time…Are you kidding? Ta ne!… Somehow he manages to lure Kristina — who looks fabulous twirling and side-stepping in a yellow dress — to a church for a wedding. Once again he begs, pleads, promises love, love, love….but nothing helps. Ta ne! She goes dancing and leaves him with a GOATBam!

Kristina – Ta Ne lyrics

Ak je láska výbuch citov
tak to bola sopka
stacil iba jeden pohl’ad
k nemu dve tri slovká,
stalo sa to vo vlaku
rovno sa ma spýtal
tým úžasným dialektom
co na srdci skrývam

Spojme dlane TA NE TA NE
A láska nech sa stane TA NE TA NE
Budzeme še l’ubic TA NE TA NE
Mocne jak dva duby TA NE TA NE

TA NE…

Že vraj ja som krv a mlieko
a on nie je z masla
a že ked on našiel štastie
aj ja som ho našla
zastavil vlak kl’akol si
a otvoril si náruc
a vraj rovno cez pole hned
podme ku oltáru

Spojme dlane TA NE TA NE
A láska nech sa stane TA NE TA NE
Budzeme še l’ubic TA NE TA NE
Mocne jak dva duby TA NE TA NE

TA NE…

Spojme dlane TA NE TA NE
A láska nech sa stane TA NE TA NE
Budzeme še l’ubic TA NE TA NE
Mocne jak dva dubyyyy TA NE

Cheerful song from my favorite domestic singer. I’m also a girl from eastern Slovakia. 🙂 So Kristína super song. Ta ne ? Ta hej. 😀 I’m glad that Eurovision viewers still remember her and she has even abroad fans. 🙂
