Every year there are a few results at Eurovision that leave us scratching our heads. Acts that we expected to soar end up crashing, and acts we expected to crash somehow manage to soar. Tastes obviously vary — across borders and even among friends — so what some call a crime others call justice. In any event, here are 10 results and events at Eurovision 2015 that had us shouting “OMG!” After watching our video, be sure to let us know what you consider the biggest crimes of Eurovision in the comments section below.

10 Crimes of Eurovision 2015

6. Flags disrupt performances
5. Smoke machine malfunctions for Georgia and Belgium
4. France’s Lisa Angell finishes third from bottom

I love San Marino even more for giving the UK some points. Wiwibloggs love Valentina so they are sending their love back by voting for the UK. Come on Will..

Edurne was by far the BIGGEST crime committed this year. But I know she doesn’t need that she is already a HUGE ARTIST, and those results doesn’t render her to the failure.
I’m not that sure about The Netherlands, I mean it was very disappointing and poor
And I didn’t heard the boo to Russia.
Another one that I might add to the list is: Germany null points, SERIOUSLY!? you give points to Poland but not to the queen of sassyness? WTF is wrong people (not everyone but most of the audience)

How about Switzerland only receiving 4 points? The performance was really good!

I read the video was shot during a live show in Tantura beach which is close to Haifa, maybe he went for a swim afterwards 🙂 “Golden Boy” was a really big hit in Israel, which is quite rare for a Eurovision song (The last Eurovision song that did so well here was Shiri Maimon’s “Hasheket Shenish’ar”) so Nadav got a big boost for his career and I bet he and his managers want to strike while the iron is hot. Besides, I think Nadav still has one year of school ahead of him, and the Israeli army is considerate… Read more »

Thanks for the info, Maya, that’s great news. I don’t mind if it’s in English or Hebrew, as long as it’s a catchy song (and a nice video, say, Nadav going for a swim in the sea in Netanya… why not?). Actually, you should be one of the editors at wiwibloggs, so we’d get even more Israeli Eurovision news. I actually thought Nadav might have chosen not to focus on his musical career for the moment as he has to go to the army soon or something. By the way, Maya, do you have Twitter so you can be followed?

Thank you Iberian, I try my best 🙂
Actually I just read that two days ago Nadav shot the video for his new single, so It’ll probably come out very soon. It was written by Doron Medalie who also wrote Golden Boy, but It will most likely be in Hebrew this time.

@davve If the juries have such a strong understanding of contemporary music, I wonder why they gave their first place to the old fashioned ballad from Austria last year, rather than to a contemporary pop hit like Poland’s, which they placed at the bottom. Add to that Lithuania’s stale ballad coming 1st with the juries on 2011 and Montenegro’s uptempo, contemporary Igranka slaughtered by the juries, and you’ll see that jurors have an overall mainstream, traditional taste and they are rather fixated on easy-to-digest Europop when it comes to Eurovision. Most of them are Eurovision related and/or related to the… Read more »

Julian, time to get beyond silly claims …Heroes won……. had Italy won the jury votes and only comed 10th or similar in the televoting you would have protested highly that the jury should have more power and that the televoting is wrong,…it is as simple as that.

davve
davve

Maya G, simply because the winner won on jury votes doesnt mean that the 50/50 way is the wrong way. it simply means that the system works… Jury groups consists of people with high knowledge of music and the music industry. Italys song lost on it being not contemporary. And it was a crowd pleaser and a media buzz favourite.

If italy would have won the jury votes but only placed 6th in the televote, all of you would have protested that the jurys should get more to say in the final. It is todays biggest truth.

Italy won the televote by a landslide, a better result than Norway 2009 and Sweden 2012. Italy was ranked higher than Sweden in 28 of the televote scores while Sweden scored higher than Italy only in 9 countries, 6 of which are Scandinavian and Baltic countries. Even if Italy won the televote in each and every country, Sweden would still win. The masses who televoted for Italy were wasting their time and money, Italy didn’t stand a chance. Sweden won fair and square according to the rules, but the rules allow 200 random people to overrule the clear choice of… Read more »

Sweden is so overrated by juries that they would’ve won even with a plagiarised song and a plagiarised show. They did it already?
Hmm, they would’ve won even with a song like 2015 UK, France, Spain, Malta, Germany, Netherlands or any.

davve

Oosten, the problem with your theory is that Måns song has placed higher on all charts that both songs has placed on. Il Volos song is outdated… and for me it is a mystery that they even made the top3… they sing great dont get me wrong..but the song is not contemporary.

Davve, Mans won on a gimmick and with political support. He is not the best singer and his song is far from original and absolutely boring. If the results were the other way round, you would cry and wiwi would call the police for that “crime”

Leaf, just minimizing and trivializing people being imprisoned, countries being invaded, millions of people hurting and being terrorized.. that seems pretty rude and for real ignorant. You can keep saying that Polina is her own individual but it doesnt change the fact that she in ESC 2015 represented one of the worlds most oppressive and violent regimes. I guess you havent had half your family killed in one of Russias attacks, or had your father or mother imprisoned for simply having an opinion on Putin etc….. Polina has to take the reactions from the audience when she is representing that… Read more »

@davve there are other ways to response to the regime ….. And as for the “represent another nation” comment, that is just plain SILLY. She is Russian and she want’s to represent HER country, plus it is an international music festival so from a promotion prospective why wouldn’t she want to perform on the big stage. Everything you just said is ignorant and very rude, generalizing someone and putting them in a box just because of their nationality is the worst and especially coming from someone that wants to defend DEMOCRACY and It is anti-regime. If you are so open… Read more »

@shaun, it doesnt matter. she still represented RUSSIA. People in europe are sick and tired of Russias bully regime and wants to air their disappointment over their tactics. It is a healthy and for me clearly justified response towards this oppressive regime.

If polina did not want to get booed she could have represented another nation.

Russia will for obvious reasons continue to be booed for many years at ESC. And sending these peace and love songs will not help them.

Oosten, Sweden was third in the televoting and first in the jury voting, Italy was first in the televoting and sixth in the jury voting. That adds up to Sweden being the winner. And it wasnt like Italy got that many votes and Sweden got zero… should all the million of voters that voted for Sweden not see their favourite win..when he clearly won the jury voting. Your reasoning doesnt add up as all participating countries agreed on the terms of who will win. italy won one part and sweden won one part…but sweden also ended up higher on the… Read more »

@Davve Polina is a Russian girl representing her home country. She does not deserve to be boo’d for representing her HOME NATION. Just because she’s representing Russia in Eurovision does NOT mean she represents the Russian government. She is merely taking part in an song competition that’s SUPPOSED to be friendly. And who knows, maybe Polina truly meant what she was singing. Did you ever think about Polina’s song perhaps referring toward the oppressed minorities within Russia? You ever think to look at it that way instead of making everything political about Russia? I’m not saying it’s true, but if… Read more »

well, davve, Sweden didn’t win both the jury and televoting. For me juries are completely intransparent and manoeuvrable. Italy won 36 millions televotes and that’s more important than 200 jurors, who get instructed by the EBU, which is a Nordic club itself, and by record company Universal, which wants to make a big deal. The televoting era did not make worse winners, the only prevented Scandinavia from multiple wins. This is now the case. Only Teardrops and Heroes were far from standing above the rest, musically and artistically, and less relatable than other songs. Since I was in the arena,… Read more »

Oosten, no one gets cheated. all competitors are aware of the fact that u need to win both the jury and televoting. italy did not win simply because they won one part of the competition.. Sweden WON because they did great at both jury and televoting..

the 50/50 results should stay…. never changed.

Maya G

@Mitchelvaneijk Loreen would have won in 2012 even with 100% televote, the only difference would be that the voting would have been much more exciting and suspenseful. This year Finland came 10th in the televote at their semi, which hardly makes them candidates for victory in the final. If full televote was used this year, Italy would have won by a landslide.
I don’t think we need juries to correct the choice of “the ignorant masses”, and they obviously don’t balance out the block voting, and often only exacerbate it.

I am not surprised about either Spain or Frances bad results. France keeps sending these dull and not contemporary ballads..and the 2015 entry was the worst so far… it could have won ESC in 1960 or something.. it wasnt contemporary. it wasnt even particularly good. Simply because it is in french and is a ballad doesnt make it good. France and spain both need to realise that keep sending these national language songs doesnt add up to a good result anymore…. period. and spain.. edurne is a good singer.. but frankly her stage presence and vocal skills doesnt justify a… Read more »

Ofcourse Polina might not be behind russias tactics but it doesnt matter..she still represents the country. and i mean honestly they do put gasoline to the flames by sending these high and mighty peace songs….. sending a peace song about love and respect while russia being for non of that….it is not genuine..and should be boooed. and polina actually had to have known that it would happen. she could have decided not to… Read more »

France’s place & points were really disappointing..
Lisa’s live performance might was not that great & lacked but hell no she deserved such bad result..

Edurne’s on stage performance was really spectacular…She was robbed big time as well…Really let down & i felt sorry 4 her that she finished outside the top20..

So i find it justifiable 4 WiWIBloggs to call both of these truly crimes..
I personally agree with most of these mentioned crimes that exist in this list..

Well it wasn’t hard at all 4 anyone to beat Ann Sophie’s zero 0 points…Although she absolutely did not deserve this awful result…The Make Makes truly deserved to do really bad though.. You could have called it still unfair & injustice but no way this must really was the #1 most unfair thing that happened in Vienna..I liked much more Lisa’s song tahn i did with Ann Sophie’s…And… Read more »

@Shaun – I do agree with you – booing ANY country taking part in the ESC is unacceptable, I felt so bad for Polina this year (even though I’m not a big fan of Putin’s Russia).
I know it’s hard but we need to leave out the political aspect out of the contest as much as possible.

@ Davve

No, Polina does not represent the ideals of the Russian federation. Is she Putin? Is she responsible for the bad things happening in her country right now? No, not at all. In fact, she’s a huge LGBT supporter in her native country, so does she deserve to be boo’d because of that? I’m a Russian-American, and I absolutely hate what Vladimir Putin is doing, but if I, for some reason, want to represent Russia next year in Eurovision, I shouldn’t be afraid of being harassed on stage just because of my country of origin.

@Nott I am sorry for you taking it like that, not my intention at all. I actually had a great vibe coming from the song and the video, It was pleasant and all. Nothing against paralyzed people taking a chance to make a message for their issue and that is great. BUT I believe her being there was enough of a statement. The tacky part comes from putting it in a visual like that.
