Russia debuted at Junior Eurovision in 2005, grabbing gold a year later with the Tolmachevy Twins — the Sister Act that later placed seventh at the adult Eurovision. It wasn’t a fluke. At Junior Eurovision Russia has never missed the top ten and it is ready to fight for the trophy again in 2015. The first step? Its national selection!

RTR has announced that applications can be submitted between now and September 10 here. But the kiddies better follow the rules. The original song must have at least one verse and one chorus in Russian, but up to 25% of the song can be in another language. The song must last at least 2:50 and, of course, it cannot exceed three minutes. As for participants, they have to be Russian citizens or have a legal residence permit and be between 10 to 15 years of age. As always, the maximum number of participants on stage is six.

In September the jury will listen to all of the submitted songs and choose the best ones for the final, which will be held in Moscow. The winner will be selected by a 50/50 jury-televote split. Viewers will be able to vote for their favorites online.

The winner will be announced on the TV channel “Karusel”. And, as this is Russia, the prize is big. The winner will receive a three-year contract with the broadcaster and, of course, the golden ticket to Sofia.

Judging by the sub-headline, I almost thought they’ll pull a Valentina Monetta and send the winner to JESC to represent for three consecutive years.
