When the team from wiwibloggs launched wiwivision 2015 – our alternative song contest – on 22 June, we hoped for a little pick-me-up from post-Eurovision depression. But thanks to y’all we practically eliminated PED completely – result! Almost 5,000 votes were cast across two semi-finals and a further 4,000 were added in the grand final. Now, after a slight delay (long story short: graphical fiasco), it’s time to reveal the winner of wiwivision 2015. Remember, the result is a mixture of a jury vote and a public vote. The first 50% is awarded by 40 members of the Wiwi Jury in a manner similar to Eurovision, while the remaining points are allocated proportionally based on the reader poll. Without further ado, I hand you over to William and Deban as they guide y’all through the wiwivision 2015 results show. May the best song win!

Wiwivision Grand Final Playlist

A detailed breakdown of all the points awarded in both semi-finals and the final will be published later this week. In the meantime, let us know what you thought of the contest and whether you want to see it return.

I think you guys did good job, but you should do it once a year after Eurovision And I have some advice for you, that would Maks wiwvision better -choose songs that didn’t become worldwide hit(support smaller artis) -make better scoreboard (maybe you can hire someone from Youtube eurofans) -You guys, William and Deban should stay like in Eurovision and ther should be a table or something, it could be nice -It will be nice to see all the countries who tak part in Eurovision, not only this from this year -In the grand final you have big 5 +… Read more »

@Darren: I agree, to some extent, but let’s not act as if your own country has not sent “brutal” songs that finished better than they should really have. Ireland’s 2011-2013 entries come to mind… Rubbish that should have stayed in the semis, indeed…

@Darren: Romania never missed the final? Wow!!!! Then, I’m glad Romania didn’t miss this one, too.
Well done, Moldova! I like Nicoleta Nuca’s song and I like her voice.
For me, it is something magical to hear my native language sang in international competitions.

@Lottee: Aye! Kygo’s song could have given this year’s ESC top 5 major problems. I can imagine the staging, let alone the music, would have pushed Norway further up the board.

@WTF
Russia was just an example…I could mention other countries, along with them, such as Ukraine, Romania, Greece…who never miss a final even if their song is utter rubbish…but they do well not over musicality, but rather the flag they represent. The days of heavy bloc voting and rubbish acts winning the contest may be over now, but they are still placing way too high for my liking.Rubbish entries should still not be making the Top 10 every year..they should stay in the semis

Kygo should have won 🙁 Don’t remember the other songs tbh

@Darren: Russia’s entry may not have deserved 2nd place this year, but I wouldn’t exactly put it in the same category as the other ones you mentioned.

Agree with @charles
This fan contest really just shows up the crap that unnecessarily qualifies and does well in the actual contest just because its represented by a particular country. No second place for Russia unconditionally regardless of song…just because its Mother Russia and no Ex-Yugoslav’s voting for each other. Although the best song has won the Eurovision the past few years since 2009 (except 2011) nobody ever seems to question why brutal songs manage to score as high as second place (Russia 2015, 2012 – Azerbaijan 2011, 2013) or in the Top 10 etc etc.

Looking at the scoreboard and seeing the results being broken down that way … felt so old school like 80s and early 90s sort of … I mean, seeing Belgium and Switzerland on the top felt very 1986 … loved that … and ironic: no Russia or Ukraine? No former Yugoslav country? No Turkey? I am speechless and sarcastically amused lol

Musically wise, which what matters the most, I was only rooting for Mark Feehily’s “Love is a Drug” not only am a fan of the of lad but also of this amazing song.

Darren

Now if only my country could do as well as we did in this at the actual Eurovision. It annoys me how RTE selects its entrants and that no Irish artist would go near Eurovision. Especially someone like Marcus Feehily or Shane Filan who have already gained a global fanbase through Westlife, they are ideal for Eurovision…but, of course, no doubt we will get stuck with some talent show reject, who didnt even make the final few in their talent show…or someone who has never performed in front of a crowd of more than 10 people and will get so… Read more »

I liked Irelands song, but it wasn’t my favourite. Here is my top 10 after the show. 1. Norway 2. UK 3. Spain 4. Lithuania 5. Romania 6. Austria 7. Latvia 8. Georgia 9. Germany 10. Australia Even if I like Spain more than Austria, I am really surprised that Spain did get more votes than Austria. Also surprised that Estonia finished than Norway in the voiting, when Norway’s song is a hit. Netherlands song was a bit cathy so I didn’t thought that they would be in 20-27th place, but 10th place was a bit surprising. DR, JESC in… Read more »

I’m happy with the result. I liked how spread out the jury votes were, and how the lead changed so often, and how the UK was in the second half then suddenly shot to the top. I think in the future you should do three a hear. A summer autumn and winter editions. We’ve just had the summer one June to August, then September to November for the autumn wiwivision and december to feburary for the winter one. Then leave march to may for the real eurovision. I also think wiwibloggers should not choose the songs when they are the… Read more »

I’m a bit dissapointed about the winner (Ireland was in my top 10 but I don’t think he should have won with that many points) and the televote results for Finland and Switzerland, I also thought Austria and Estonia would place higher. My country’s (Spain) 20th place is too high as I expected a bottom place. My results would have been: 1- Switzerland 2- Austria 3- Netherlands 4- Finland 5- Estonia 6- Norway 7- Lithuania (all of them are already in my IPod) 8- Ireland 9- Belgium 10- France.

Maybe wiwibloggs could do national finals as well for next time. Just a thought, not really a suggestion.

Halfway through i was actually disappointed with the results but then they slowly got better (to my taste of course) and the overall results are not so bad. Ireland was being represented by a fantastic song.

BUT poorly underrated: Austria. END OF.

Regardless of how it happened, Ireland’s song is a deserving winner. Belgium would have also been one but 4th place is still good. Australia, Georgia and UK were utter crap and had no business being in the top 5.

Bit dissapointed with the results tbh, Switzerland, Lithuania, Norway and the UK were my favourites, especially the latter two considering they were world wide hits. Ireland isn’t a terrible winner, but we all know they won the “televote” the same way that Molly and Cann-Lin topped their semi finals polls.
You shoul def do the wiwivision again guys, it was great fun and a good way to discover new artists. I think once a year is good tho, you wouldn’t want to over do it.

@The Lurker: That’s why they have juries; to distinguish quality from quantity. Granted, the jurors may have failed at the very top of the board at ESC 2015 (I actually thought the jury would have given it to Il Volo and the televoters would have given it to Måns; a major paradox, indeed), but you notice that, where sympathy televotes may have pushed not-so-competitive songs up the leaderboard, the jurors stood firm, with no mercy for most songs that didn’t stand a chance.

@mawnck: I thought PriceWaterhouseCoopers went belly-up! I haven’t heard about them in 7 years!

Marcus from Ireland was my #4. Dami from Australia was also my #2.

Kygo from Norway was my #1.
