Gaitana has renamed herself Essami, has shaved her head, dyed her hair blonde and released a new song all at once. That’s a lot to take in, so let’s slow our roll and back it up. Ukraine’s Eurovision 2012 singer is releasing a new album entitled “I am Essami”, which is her family name (think Beyonce and Sasha Fierce everybody). The lead single for the project is the hauntingly beautiful “You are the One.”
We’ve already been teased with a music video filmed in London and Kyiv. The 10 new tracks are being recorded in London and LA. The musicians behind this track have worked with Elton John, Tom Jones and Sting. However, it’s Gaitana’s voice that gives this simple song an edge and depth and make the lyrics all the more meaningful.
We haven’t even discussed the hair yet. Gaitana hasn’t fully explained why she’s chosen to make such drastic changes to her image. But she doesn’t have to. It works. The simplistic hair and the reference to her family through her new name and peaceful new sound all compliment each other. Now we wait for the concerts she promised with the tour!

I can’t pronounce other songs by her I’ve like (one where she’s in a desert, other where there’s a bunch of purple Gaitana shadows) but I’ll miss the old her. Essami sounds promising.

She looks likes the black singer *Skin* 🙂 And her voice is really similar with the one of this artist..
