Chiara & Martina — known to many as the Scarpari Sisters — have today unveiled their Junior Eurovision 2015 song “Viva”. As you can tell from the one English lyric — life is right here — this song is all about loving life and living it to the full. Musically this has a retro quality, taking us back to the joyous days of late 80s, early 90s easy listening…but with the slightest rock edge. There’s something very Peppermints-minus-three-members about this. But ya know what? We like it!

Gigi D’Alesso, a well-known Italian singer who has sold more than 20 million records worldwide, wrote the song. His first seven albums came out in the 90s, which may explain the throwback feel of this. You may know his 2006 duet with Lara Fabian “Un cuore malato”.

Chiara & Martina sound amazing live, so we have a feeling this song will slay when we hear it on stage. They know how to imbue music with emotion and passion…so watch out!

What do you think of the song? Double your pleasure, double your fun? Or just double trouble?!

It’s nice. But that’s it, just nice. Clearly another “we don’t want to win again” song.

The chorus reminds me of the past hit: “Yummi Yummi Yummi, I got love in my tummy” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Zs8qbExfs
Putting the familiarity aside, the song just doesn’t leave any particular impact.
It’s like we’ve heard hundreds of songs like this before. As much as the twins work great together and sing on pitch, it doesn’t ask from them to get out of their comfort zone or show any quality that puts them on a whole other level than the other acts.

Very disappointing. I had high hopes. Would’ve been good with better production. Sounds like something San Marino would send to ESC.

It’s cool, it’s very Italian and the fact that they are twins makes it even better.
