On Tuesday, Slovenia‘s Lina Kudozovic kept it simple and then dazzled with a snowy light show. Today she shone on stage again, dazzling in metallic shoes andt gorgeous screen. The staging is bold in its simplicity and we love bravery. Lina’s vocal remained crystal clear ands showed no weakness. Her ballad “Prva ljubezen” remains one of the strongest in the competition and despite an earlier draw we are confident it will shine.

Slovenia’s second rehearsal at Junior Eurovision 2015

What we thought of her first rehearsal

Slovenia have stripped it all back for their first rehearsal at Junior Eurovision 2015. The staging is very minimal. Lina Kuduzovic stands alone, dressed in a plain white dress. As she sings “Prva ljubezen”, her ballad to first love, the background changes between various shades of blue, while spotlights shine to the sky. And that’s it. No dancers. No backing singers. With such simplicity, we’re forced to focus on Lina’s pitch perfect vocals. The bigger stage certainly hasn’t dented her confidence, and her delivery is every bit as good as the performance which won her the Slovenian ticket in Mini EMA.

It’s a bold move by Slovenia. While simple staging can allow one to focus more on the singer, it also has its drawbacks. And of course, they’ve been thwarted by it at both Eurovision 2015 and last year’s Junior Eurovision. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out on screen.

Update: In subsequent takes the backdrop was filled with castles and hearts… not so simple after all. You can get a taster in the JuniorEurovision.tv photo gallery.

Bad shot, Armenia is oversized.

Everything about this entry is brilliant. A beautiful, inspiring song. Spectacular staging. Amazing vocals – consistently on-key with a delivery that shows she is really connecting with the song.

I think this can win. It really comes down to whether people want a ballad or a lively, uptempo song. If people are in the mood for a power ballad, Slovenia is the strongest candidate. If they want a fast and groovy song, Armenia is the strongest candidate.

Nothing new from Slovenia like last year so similar song and singer. They wili flop with this song like last year, and last year song is so much better than this year song.
