WATCH: Paula Seling releases new video and Christmas album

Romanian Eurovision star Paula Seling has spent the fall preparing for winter, and the result is her fourth Christmas album entitled “Povesti de iarna” (Winter Stories). The LP features eleven original, Romanian-language songs, mostly ballads, meant to evoke a wintery atmosphere. Most moving may be the eulogy “Randul lucrurilor”, which the Romanian singer released last month as a tribute to the victims of the Bucharest club fire on 30 October.

It is Paula Seling’s fourth Christmas album, but the first she wrote by herself. The first and likely only single is “Doi prieteni vechi” (Two Old Friends), the video of which she released today. The video was shot ather new home in Bucharest.

On Friday she performed another song off the album, “De-as fi un inger” (If I Were an Angel), live on Romanian television:

Paula Seling Povesti de iarna coverThe album showcases Paula’s ethereal voice and sensitivity. Although ESC fans know her primarily for her dance anthems “Playing with Fire” and “Miracle”, Romanians celebrate Paula as the queen of sweeping ballads, which we hope she can show Europe one day, if she decides to return to the Eurovision stage.

While you wait for that to happen, you can stream previews of all the songs on “Povesti de iarna” here, and you can also buy the individual songs.
