Last night Albanian diva and Eurovision 2011 contestant Aurela Gaçe won the popular Albanian music contest Kënga Magjike. She did so with her powerful ballad “Akoma jo” (Still not), which explores a woman’s heated relationship with her on-off lover. “Will you come drink another coffee?” she asks. “One hour for me, maybe less. Come closer….Let’s sweat in bed one more time.”

It’s the second consecutive year that Aurela has won and it also marks her third victory (her first was in 2007). Adrian Hila, the composer of the 2005, 2007 and 2008 Albanian Eurovision entries, wrote and composed “Akoma jo”.

The Albanian representative for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest Juliana came third with her powerful new single “Vullkan” (Volcano), which we just adore. She erupted on stage wearing a fierce golden dress and brought more heat than flowing lava. She also won the award for “Best Vocals.”

What do you think of the winning song?

Aurela definitely deserved that victory, such a beautiful and haunting song. I also really loved Pike Loti by Mariza and Klea 😀

Bit stupid to give a “Best Vocal” award if they are allowed to lipsynch

I don’t like Aurela’s song, indeed it’s kind of scary… i need a lot of prozac, xanax and vodka after watching that…. about my dear golden disco ball a.k.a. Juliana… girl kill the fucking designer of that “dress?” … her song is better than Aurela’s but is not neither theeee song

Aurela Gace is haunting in the way she becomes vocally and physically possessed by her inner demons, but it comes across as strenuous and agonizing at times.
I wish Juliana Pasha’s Volcano would have erupted earlier and more often during those 3:22 minutes. It felt like the build up was taking too long and that the eruptions were too short (except for the final refrain), but it was a very classy act altogether.

Hands down they should be using Kënga Magjike for Eurovision.

Aurela’s song is good, but Julianna’s Volcano is way better!

Juliana for me had best song from Albania at Eurovisin, then Rona from 2012.
For me Juliana song is better than Aurela song. Aurela for me try so hard to be new Anna Oxa.

I love FiK, but I think Kenga Magjike is more suitable for Eurovision…
