This morning Moldova’s TRM opened its studios so that its expert jury could evaluate the 47 entries submitted to O melodie pentru Europa 2016, its national selection for Eurovision. Lidia Isac — one of our pre-audition favourites — nailed her number “Falling Stars”. And Litesound delivered a surprisingly strong duet with Katherine. There were, of course, plenty of WTF moments, as when housewife Nadejda Rotaru sang about flying in the sky with a zebra, and when the unfortunately named Poison Lust sang “Black Magic”. Now, several hours later and following closed-door deliberations, TRM has revealed the 24 semi-finalists for February’s show. Did your favourites make it? Let’s find out…

O melodie pentru Europa 2016 semi-finalists

Andrei Ionita & Onoffrei – “Lie”

Che-MD – “Voda e cu noi”

Nadia Mosneagu – “Memories”

PRIZA – “Rewind”

Beatrice – “Saved My Heart For You”

Anna Gulko – “Never Let Go”

The first and second semi-finals will take place on 23 and 25 February respectively, with the final on 27 February.

Do you agree with their decisions? What were your highlights from the live auditions?

till the end, voda e cu noi and save love are the best options in my humble opinion
i can say that Moldova dont has bad songs, just bad singers xD
Except Chris Maroo and “Tonight” Goddamit, it´s the worst song and live that i heard in my whole life. It´s exactly the stereotype that i cant stand. It´s a fucking 0/10 or 0/100 or…well….ZERO/CERO/NULL.

The only that I like is Falling Stars but Lidia should improve her high notes… Great song but at this moment not the best singer (let’s wait…) Best voice Valería but a forgeteable song…

Some good songs here. Taking it as read that these performances are just auditions and the final presentation would be elevated on all, my personal favourite is ‘Imagine’ . Good international sound and nice contrast of vocal styles …. pretty girl and hunky guy 🙂 With a good production and presentation, this should score well if it makes it to Stockholm.

It’s definitely going to be Doinita Gherman or Lidia Isac for Stockholm, without a doubt! Who knows, Moldova might actually do pretty well this year! 🙂

As I’m re-listening to most of the songs that qualified, I actually notice that Moldova has so many good songs, and especially a strong line up.
I could see Moldova do really good in Stockholm 🙂

Tare and Irresistible are the only ones that have a chance to make it to the final, the rest not so much

@Robyn: In almost every case, being first out the gate doesn’t matter as much as being first in the end. As far as I know, Sasha was the very first artist to release a song intended for the ESC. I thought maybe he’d make it to the show; but unfortunately that isn’t the case.
