Nine of the ten positions for Austria‘s national final have already been filled, but the tenth one is still up for grabs. It will be determined by Facebook wildcard vote. But before the official vote kicks off, you can pick your favourites in our poll.
The official Facebook vote will begin on Thursday 14 January at 9:00 CET. For 24 hours, users will be able to like their favourite songs. The one with the highest number of likes will win the tenth position at the WSFÖ final.
But we’re keeping things simpler here. You can listen to all five wildcard entries below, then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many contestants as you like, but you can only vote ONE time. Be sure to check the box next to every act you want to support before submitting your votes.
AzRaH – “The One”
David Siedl feat. Madelene & MC Vio – “Wah Wah Whine”
Laura Kamhuber – “Stay Tonight”
Ola Egbowon – “Addicted”
Listen to this song at Facebook.
Looks like Sara Koell is going to win the Facebook voting.
MIBLU oh wait…
SARA OF COURSE IS DIFERENT AND VANGUARDIST
Apparently Azrah will win the wild card, because she already was miles ahead in the prior Facebook round thanks to the huge Yugoslavian diaspora. They will always vote massively for “themselves” to feed their nationalistic pride. The “Likes” for the other acts were pretty low. Only peeps of the inner core of the Eurovision bubble were bothering to “like”. That is why we lost great acts like Gerry+Me and Miblu.
I’m loving “Wah Wah Whine” but I can’t see it getting votes in Austria. Not to mention that, despite being a ton of fun, it’s very mid-2000’s.
“Close to The Sun” is the most likely winner of this bunch.
Sara Koell <3
Definitely AzRaH!
But also disappointed Gerry+Me didn’t make the shortlist, given some of the entries that did.
Agree with No Name that the standard is low in my view so far and I’ve a sneaky feeling the only country that has been really ambitious with the artist (Russia) will be a dissapointment like 2011. I haven’t been blown away by any song yet and in my view only Hungary have an interesting selection so far. Stay Tonight is probably my favourite here but that’s not saying too much. At least the final is looking competetive so far.
So angry and sad Gerry+Me is not in this bunch. I don’t understand how people can prefer cheap songs like these over a well produced and different pop-song. I’m usually good at predicting Eurovision and I immidiatly felt it would have made the top 10. Oh well, this is more and more heading to be the worst Eurovision for years IMO 🙁
