Lithuania’s mammoth search for a Eurovision star continued tonight with the third instalment of Eurovizijos Atranka 2016. For the first time this year, the focus was on those who entered the process without a song. LRT subsequently matched each contestant with songs submitted by songwriters. In total, 12 acts made it through by this method and they all sang this evening. Having competed in the 2015 competition, Neringa Šiaudikyte was the big name in tonight’s lineup. However, Aiste Pilvelyte ended up winning the heat.

I would prefer a lithuanian version of “I bet”. It is a great song, I am sure she can deliver a better performance but imo her accent is not good at all.

@Eugene I don’t think Eurovision is moving away from “screaming women”. Many people wrote Aminata off as a screamer, she came 6th, same with Rona she came 5th. I don’t think this song could win Eurovision but it would probably give them a top 10. However the song does need tightening up, it was very hard to hear the words and at times did come across as literally just screaming without a song at all. That might be down to her being ill and might be fixed for the next performance. I agree she definitely didn’t “nail it”. At the… Read more »

Meghan Trainor didn’t win in Malta, so Madonna circa 1984 showed up in Lithuania! Was that Baiba’s idea or did the songwriters talk the poor thing into it? I injured myself cringing …

I had a feeling Aiste’s song was going to be good and the fact that she can become ill and still deliver a performance as stunning as that is just AMAZING.

Aist? was sick that day and had temperature of 39,6 degrees, but still nailed it!

Aist? totally nailed it! She has a killer song and her vocals were on point even though she was ill during the performance. The song itself sounds like a mix of Rise Like a Pheonix/Suus and as a Lithuanian I can honestly say that this would be one of our best entries ever. But I’ve really lost my hope because we have NEVER EVER made the right decision about Eurovision…

My god it’s getting even worse… Guys, do yourselves and us a favor and choose Donny.

Donny got the least amount of televotes out of the winners of the three shows so I honestly don’t think he’s the actual frontrunner. R?ta earned the most televotes and maximum points from both juries so I’d say she’s the one to beat.
