It’s starting to become a a bit of a tradition. Every year Edyta Gorniak — Poland’s first Eurovision representative — publicly considers returning to the contest. Edyta, one of Poland’s biggest and brightest stars, placed second at the 1994 contest held in Dublin with “To nie ja” (It wasn’t me). Since then she has remained a fan favorite to represent Poland — and it looks like it might just happen in 2016.

In a Facebook post published on Tuesday, Edyta simply asked fans “I need to know how you feel about it?” accompanied by a picture of the Eurovision logo. As you’d expect, fan reactions have been extremely positive. If their opinion really matters to her, she should just go for it as most of them are suggesting.

It is not the first time Edyta has teased us with her so-called big return. Just last year, all signs pointed to a comeback and fans were ecstatic about the idea. In the end Edyta indeed approached TVP just to find out that the artistic directors had already selected Monika Kuszynska.

This year TVP is resurrecting their national final. Given her star power — and ability to draw an audience — Edyta would not be rejected if she applies, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that she takes the plunge. The final will take place on March 5.

Do you think Edyta should return to Eurovision? Do you think she can give Poland its first win? Let us know in the comments section below!

Racal – there was maybe one exception. Carola in 2006, who did very well.

Its not good idea. Now she is more celebrity then a singer. Her latest album released 4 years ago and it’s saled only on 10 000 copies (it’s very small in Poland). She don’t have the same strong voice like on 1994.

Same rumor as last year, it’s like Edyta has nothing better to do. Anyway, this is what I commented last year, and it is still valid now: “Why on Earth would she want to go back? She managed to place 2nd twenty years ago, when there were less competing countries and less political voting. Not to mention that she was Poland’s first entrant ever, and debuting countries always enjoy some kind of sympathy votes. She would surely place MUCH lower today (Poland never managed to benefit from any neighboring voting) if only she manages to get through semis. Look at… Read more »

I’m from Poland and to be honest – Edyta isn’t a good choice for Eurovision. I know that everything depends on a song, and I know her voice is phenomenal, however her attitude here in Poland is not… great. For the past few years she’s become more a celebrity than a musician – I mean she thinks she’s a diva only because she came 2nd in 1994 and then released a few great songs. Can anyone name me Edyta’s some great songs from 2005? I like “To nie tak jak myslisz”, but something’s more? To sum up – she thinks… Read more »

I would love to see Edyta back! However, only if it’s a good song. I would hate to see this diva crash out at the semi-final like Dana International, or finish near the bottom like Niamh Kavanagh. Returns can be tricky.

P.S. Isis Gee has changed her name to Tamara Gee, not surprisingly.

Yes please. Edyta was a stand-out performer in 1994 – I can still renember it after all these years! It would be great to have her back. 🙂

Am I crazy to hope for an Isis Gee come back or is she just banned cos of her name?
I miss the bleach, the spray tan and those teeth that shined brighter than the LED screen in the background.
