TVP have confirmed the nine finalists for Krajowe Eliminacje, the selection show for Poland’s Eurovision 2016 entry. The news was announced on the talk show Swiat sie Kreci, after a panel of five jurors made their decision. Fans of Edyta Górniak can celebrate, as she has made it through to the live final her song “Grateful”!
It was revealed yesterday that 88 songs had been submitted to TVP, although it is believed that some artists submitted more than one song to the panel. The jury was made up of four journalists (Anna Will, Waldemar Skowronski, Artur Orzech & Robert Janowski) as well as the composer Zygmunt Kukla. In an interview on Swiat sie Kreci yesterday, the jury said they had looked for a number of different sounds for the final. Poland’s 2015 represenative, Monika Kuszynska, was present today when the finalists were announced. You can check out the list of finalists below:

Obviously, the biggest names in the list are the three we’ve long been talking about: Margaret and Edyta Górniak. Both had confirmed they had entered songs and it was considered mostly a foregone conclusion that they would make it through to the final of Krajowe Eliminacje. Michal Szpak has also been pushing his case to be at Eurovision for some time, releasing two songs for consideration back in December, before confirming he was sending “Colour of Your Life” earlier in February.
Napoli is a surprising entry, as “My Universe” was rejected in the Belarussian selection earlier this year. Dorota Osinska made the judges cry with a performance of “Calling You” on the second series of the Voice of Poland, where she eventually finished as a runner-up.

Generally for me at this moment Szpak (Starling) is favorite, because Górniak’s song is clearly disrespectful for standards of this contest.
Even nationalists know that word national/narodowy is more elegant than country/krajowy.
Of course “Narodowe” doesn’t sound good in Polish casue it reminds right parties. What a dumb.
Can we Please comment on music here rather than some bullshit as whether it’s ‘country’ or ‘national’ which doesn’t matter at all?
Songs are super boring and dated, looking forward to the one from Margaret-Poland’s last chance, otherwise they will stay in semi finals

If I’m here only Pole, it means that I bring here the good qualities of reason and order of Polish people. If there are also other Poles and in addition they quarrel with me, they must be the Poles of worst sort. They should know well what it means.

NARODOWY (national) means for Polish people much more than KRAJOWY (country) because of some traditions and historical issues, so we won’t use that word many often, only on special occasions.
