Pop the champagne, crank up your wind machine and get ready to vote, because it is game on in Finland. Eighteen acts competed in the semi-finals of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2016 — Finland’s national selection for Eurovision — and nine acts have made it to the February 27 final. They will sing-to-the-death with the winner decided by a televote and ten juries made of different Finnish groups. Those juries have not yet been revealed, but last year they included juries of Eurovision fans and cab drivers. Finland is quirky, y’all….

Even though all of you non-Finns won’t have an impact on the actual winner, you can voice your opinion in our poll. Vote for your favourite(s) by clicking the box next to their name(s). You can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote one time. We will go through the results before Saturday’s final.

It took me a while to get around to listening to all 9 (original audios); but I must go with Mikael Saari. Beware Cristal Snow as a potential sleeping giant-killer.

i strongly believe that mikael will win because his song and his performance were by far the best ! i just hope finland won’t make the same mistake as denmark which sent lighthouse over simone or anja. i asume that if mikael doesn’t win good enough would be a good song too. all the rest are good but not to good for eurovision

Mikael Saari for the win, by FAR the best choice! Please Finland, don’t let him go again!

Any of these acts could win and I would be happy with the result – that’s how strong this final is. There have been some vocal issues live with some of the acts (Cristal Snow and Annica & Kimmo mainly), but with these sorted out it should be a great final. I like Saara Aalto’s song the best, but Mikael Saari is the strongest performer. Don’t count out the Barbe-Q rock band either – they have a great draw, and Finland has a history of voting for the stand-out acts – that combination could win it for them. Good luck… Read more »

@Colin – Bravo! Perfectly written. Please send that as a suggested script to UMK, or to Krista Siegfried. You might hear it in the final 🙂

This year there is a great final line-up in Finland. The show mostly ain’t got time for boys, though, as this year most contestants are women. Still, all performers, men and women, will sing it away with all the troubles and shine on stage. Dont wake me up till it starts and then I’ll watch it with high interest. I’m sure it will be fun and nobody will be saying let me out as all the drama on the stage starts. Since love is blind, people voting their favorites could make an unexpected decision, but I have no fear that… Read more »

After the great song by PNK last year…what a mediocre set of songs!

So averge…nothing redical, nothing innovative..just dull! Finland often have the best, most daring and innovative and radical entries / NFs of the Nordics..many great rock songs..this year..just meh. A disappointing line uP!

saara alto and her song annoy the c*ap out of me…
Annica & Kimmo is what the heart wants <3
but Mikael is probably going to win. and so let it be. he has a great song and a very nice perfomance. could bring finland back into the top 10.

Mikael Saari hands down.
Also Mikael is the only one without a cringeworthy performance, it’s not perfect but it’s miles ahead of the rest.

My favs: Tuuli Okkonen, Saara Aalto. However, it’s likely to be Mikael Saari and Saara Aalto for the win. 🙂

Surprisingly, Finland has chose well. I’d be fine with any of these songs winning – I’d prefer not Saara, as her vocals just don’t match the hype, but I think any of these songs can make the final in Stockholm compared to what we’ve seen from other countries so far.

1. Annica and Kimmo
2. Stella
3. Sandhja
4. Tuuli
5. Barbies
6. Mikael
7. Cristal
8. Saara
9. Eini

Mikael Saari and the Barbies are pretty much the only ones I wouldn’t mind seeing in May… The rest, I’d gladly take PKN over…

I like 5 of these, am neutral on 3, and hate 1. So hopefully it’s not “Love is Blind” 😛

OK with BBQB, AM+KB, and Tuuli; but I’d be happy with Sandhja, Stella Christine, Saara Aalto, Eini or Mikael Saari. Probably Saari as number one at the moment but it shifts 😉

Mikael Saari to win!
Saara is cheap as hell.

And it is not true that people from abroad will not be able to vote. During the broadcast there is online voting open where you can vote with your visa/master card.

Why haven’t you made a poll for Sypernoma. Some of the national selections like A Dal got a poll for each heat, while Supernova got none.

Probably it’s between Mikael and Saara.
On It Goes would be my favorite ESC entry so far. No Fear would be my third, behind Iceland and Italy (if she keeps it in Italian). Everyone else has less chance, although I can see Annica & Kimmo or Tuuli being a dark horse and winning. I love their songs too. Heck, even my last in this final, Stella Christine, would be better than songs Belarus, Bosnia and Denmark sent. So, thank you Finland for an amazing UMK year.

Cristal Snow has the best song if he can fix his vocals.
Sandhja and Saara would be good choices. Anything else would be a big disappointment for me.

9 – Annica & Kimmo (I feel like they’re trying to sing AT me rather than TO me. I don’t appreciate it)
8 to 3 – Everyone else except Saara and Tuuli (and the screaming duo)
2 – Saara Aalto (Repetition became catchy here. Will not always be the case)
1 -Tuuli Okkonen (Simply amazing)

This is Finland, not Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan who are famous for change the result, singers or songs on national final, buy votes before Eurovision….

Since 2007 Finland is completely invalid in ESC, and this year most probably will not change it.

I am little bit worried, about the YLEs public-voting system. Beside telephone voting, you can pre-vote already now on Saturday night final with “yle-tunnus”. To creating that you need only email address. It actually allows to same person to vote several times with different email addresses. For example some record companies could hire people to create several “yle-tunnus” and affect to the results.

no fear is just AWFUL! the staging is extremely corny and her voice is pitchy, i hope she won´t win in Finland or it will be last in my top 🙁

I really hope Mikael wins, he has by far the best instrumental and song, the staging is amazing and he just fills the stage with presence. First time I saw the performance I was literally gobsmacked at how good it was. Whilst I do also love Saara, this one has to go to Mikael.

Whoever wins, it’s solid. All of my top 5 (out of 18) songs are in the final. That said, after all the performances live, I would pick Mikael Saari to represent.

Tuuli! <3 I like Saara and Sandhja too, but I haven't liked their performances. Mikael is a strong candidate to win.

Forgot to say, for producers to put the favourite to sing first, they must be supremely confident.

Antranig Shokayan

Saara Aalto must win. Anything else would simply be wrong. Those Barbies are almost as good and Eini is fun.

Sandhja and Stella Christine were probably the most impressive live, but the songs just aren’t quite as good.

What a great final, personally I don’t dislike any of the songs, and adore over half of them! But if Tuuli, Annica and Kimmo or Cristal Snow (hopefully he has a better start vocally!) win I’ll be delighted 😀

@EugeneESCUK

There’s the obvious choice of course, but this really is a very open contest. So many good songs in this final, by far the best National Final again for variety and quality. The Finns are pretty random though and like their rock.

The draw :-
Saara sings first, Sandhja sings last, so Saara will set the benchmark.
Mikael, Tuuli and Barbe-Q-Barbies sing 6th, 7th and 8th.

Producers are spoilt for choice here; it’s a 50%/50% jury/televote final, so no Super Final fix here!!

This is actually one of the finals where I have no idea who should, cause I like most of them. I like Tuuli best, but vocally she wasn’t amazing.

I might be the minority, but I hope Sandhja will win the competition. She has a cool song, cool stage act, and nice live vocal. #TeamSandhja
