Due to the success and hype surrounding Francesca Michielin after Sanremo, Eurovision is getting a lot of attention in the Italian media.

Italy’s Eurovision 2016 artist is the girl-of-the moment in her homeland. Her Sanremese entry “Nessun grado di separazione” has already reached No. 1 in Italy with more than 4 millions views on YouTube. The song is also the most played on the radio. In short: Italy couldn’t have chosen better!

Francesca is currently promoting her latest album “di20are” and never misses the chance to talk about Eurovision. The young singer – who turned 21 today – recently revealed that her dream is to sing in English on the stage of the Globen Arena in Stockholm.

This morning, during the show “Citofonare Roma Triuno Triuno,” aired by the Italian Radio Deejay, Michielin confirmed that she still doesn’t know if she will sing in English or Italian: “We are choosing the song, there is still this Hamlet question between Italian and English. After that we will think of the stage design, the dress, etc.”

She also said that her entry may not be “Nessun grado di separazione”: “Singing a new song at the Eurovision is not a bad idea. It depends on the song, this is the truth.”

I’ve been obsessed with “Nessun Grado di Separazione” for the past few days. Oh well. If the new song is as good or even better than her Sanremo song then I’ll be okay with this change. 🙂

Why? Her San Remo entry was really good. I just watched its music video & its perfect!! I think changing the TITLE into English will help but keep the song in Italian or make it bilingual in some parts. Now all that she & her team has to do next is bring the concept of the MV into Eurovision stage!! (maybe an Aminata/Loic staging will work). Trust me this song can WIN!!

The song is one of those that needs a few plays to get the mass to get it. It grows on you, but over time. The message is being one with all, which is a beautiful movement that is happening all around us. Francesca should stick to an Italian song; I believe with a good catchy melody, a song in Italian can be extraordinary. Maybe not this one, it’s a… Slow one (!) and there’s only 3 minutes to get everyone to love it… A challenge! Francesca should go with a new song, in italian, ensuring its an ear worm… Read more »

Guys, she isn’t changing the song, because “Nessun grado di separazione” has actually never been selected! Remember that Sanremo is not a national final, its only connection with ESC is that the winner can go to Eurovision, but not necessarily with the song from Sanremo. “Grande Amore”, last year, was an exception, because it was probably one of the really few original songs from Il Volo (their album was full of covers), and they had to bring it for obvious reasons. So, if many websites are considering NGDS the italian song is just because it’s the most viable option, but… Read more »

Good move to change the song. NGDS simply won’t make it to the top 10 and if she sings it in English I see her ending up right at the bottom of the scoreboard.

No country should be allowed to change the song, let alone the language. It’s what the public voted. It’s not fair on them.

Every time she opens her mouth to speak I like Francesca less and less. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken girl.

Lets be real here: Nessun grado di separazione is not No. 1 worthy. It isn’t bad but it’s more No. 5-rank worthy.

EBU for Eurovision 2017 must change the rules, that country could change the song only if song is plagiat or song is published before the deadline set by the EBU

I hoped for it. Francesca is a really talented girl but with that song I didn’t really feel proud of my representative… maybe with a new one, she can do better

Despite that Italy is my #7 only……I really want them to keep Nessun Grado Di Sepperazione as it could really grow onto me and other people who currently don’t like The Italian song that much

“Nessun grado di separazione” is so far my #1. Italy should stick with it. It’s different than the usual Eurovision songs, making it stand out. Eurovision is also losing the ‘Euro’ side of it when nearly all songs are in English. Yes, songs in English might do better because of the scope it can reach, but what about national pride? Music shouldn’t be about understanding the lyrics, but about feeling the rhythm and emotion of the song. Just my opinion.

I hope it will be a great song in 100% Italian.
