It’s been a very intense week in the United Kingdom! Less than a week ago the BBC presented the six acts that will compete in Eurovision: You Decide and we put the question out to you – who should win and represent the UK at Eurovision 2016? After counting 2,022 votes, we can now review the results…

Country-folk duo Darline have come out on top with our readers, earning nearly one-third of all votes. Our in-house jury absolutely loved this too, with one juror writing:

Part country queen, part Celtic goddess, Darline have light and ethereal vocals that take me to their heaven. This is a sleepy song yet it’s strangely intoxicating. It is rooted in country-folk and yet has just the right about of pop to go mainstream. In a so-so field this is far and away the stand-out track — radio-friendly, rooted in 2016 and sung by two appealing starlets. Eurovision entry sorted.

Bianca, who will sing a song co-written by Leona Lewis, finished second.

Hi Eugene. Thanks for your post. It may indeed be a load of tosh, but it’s honestly the feedback I have had first-hand. I agree it’s a tiny minority of people and I’m glad the viewing figures are saying differently. Why am I blog posting about this?: Largely because I care. I am annoyed and embarrased about the UK population’s general attitude towards Eurovision, but I will watch it nevertheless. If the UK stays in the contest I may even submit a song to it in future. x

I really want Darline to win but I have 0 faith in the British audience. They will watch and vote based on what they think is ‘euroviosiony’. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Matthew James or Karl William Lund winning -.-

What is it exactly about that Bianca song? It’s super boring and has absolutely no hook. It feels like it’s 15-minute-long. Is the fuss just because Leona Lewis wrote it? Cause that means nothing: if it really was a good song, she would have kept it for herself.

To me Darline is the best BY A MILE. To a lesser extent, Joe and Jake would be acceptable (even though I would be disappointed). The rest of the songs are not worth a penny.

Bianca should win. That Darline song is OVERRATED.

The UK has generated treated Eurovision badly for quite some time now. This week I went out again and asked more local musicians if they would watch the final tonight. Some of the responses were almost derogatory. “Rubbish” was a word used quite a lot. A young singer was still under the impression ESC was decided on 100% voting, which shows how long it has been since she last watched it! An older man joked to me that the UK had to be allowed to win this year, to help us vote to stay in the EU in the referendum… Read more »

Dulcima will hopefully pull off a shock victory. If not I hope it’s the lads.

The only song that could fair well in Stockholm is Biancas song. But even that one will struggle in the voting.

But Biancas song is the one that should win tonight. If the UK wants an honest chance of top10

I would most like Joe&Jake but would be happy to see Darline too! Also don’t mind Bianca…but anything else but those would destroy me.

After 2 listenings of the songs I found I like all 6. Live performance is another thing, we will have to wait and see this evening.

I agree with this Top 3 on the poll but leaning more towards Bianca than Darline(might do well if juries are generous). Looking forward to how their songs will be staged.

Bianca is best choice for UK, only with her UK in TOP 10 from 6 to 10 place..
I see Darline is favorite for win on betting odds. With them I don t see UK in TOP 10 in final, with good luck only from 13 to 16 place in final.

I’d be happy to see any of them represent the UK, they all sound great. I’m just especially pleased that we have been given the opportunity to choose the act we send. No disrespect to Alex and Bianca last year as singers and individuals, they couldn’t have done any more.
