The Voice of Germany winner Jamie-Lee Kriewitz clocked up another victory when she won Unser Lied für Stockholm, Germany’s national final to select its song for Eurovision 2016. Jamie-Lee won with “Ghost”, which was also her winner’s single from The Voice. Can the supernatural song give her a lucky third victory at Eurovision?
With its haunting minimalist sound, “Ghost” tells the story of a troubled relationship – “This is the ghost of you haunting the ghost of me”. Jamie-Lee looks back at past drama, concluding, “We don’t need a lifetime to figure out what we missed”.
Just like ghosts, Jamie-Lee and her supernatural sweetie are “Lonely in a crowded room together” and she demands, “Tell me who’s scared now”.
Jamie wonders if her doomed relationship could be altered – “Can’t we get an alternate ending?”
And that’s also a question Germany will be asking themselves as Jamie-Lee heads to Stockholm to hopefully give Germany a happier ending than their nil points in 2015.
