She recently told us that writing “Don’t Worry” was like giving birth to a child.

But our readers think the pain was worth it and they have named Ace Wilder their favourite to win Melodifestivalen 2016.

We launched our Melfest poll on Monday and received a total of 5,666 votes. The blonde beauty may sit sixth with the bookies, but our readers don’t care. Ace swept to victory with 1,075 votes — or around 19% of all those cast.

Our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals loved her, with one juror writing:

I’m embarrassed to say it, but I didn’t come to love “Busy Doin’ Nothin'” until the summer of 2014, long after Melfest had ended. But there’s no such problems this time round. “Don’t Worry” is a blast! As always Ace slays lyrically. Tracks with such relatable messages often come across as clunky and forced — not a worry for Ace. And of course, the staging is glorious. The giant cubes are true showstoppers, and stay just on the right side of over the top. Most importantly, Ace’s personality shines through it all. This could be a winner.

Oscar Zia, who recently told us he isn’t a style icon, came second with 789 votes, or around 14% of all those cast.

Robin Bengtsson, Wiktoria and Molly Sandén round out the Top 5.

Bookies favourite Frans — who has struck a chord with the Swedish public — only sits sixth with our readers. It’s widely believed that he would not fare as well at Eurovision as his competitors, who have more international songs. Given his momentum at home, the juries will really need to mark him down tonight during the jury final if anyone else has a chance to take the title.

In any event, what do you think? Can Ace Wilder surprise and challenge for victory?

Who should win Melodifestivalen 2016? (Poll Results)

1. Ace Wilder – “Don’t Worry” 18.97% (1,075 votes)
2. Oscar Zia – “Human” 13.93% (789 votes)
3. Robin Bengtsson – “Constellation Prize” 12.69% (719 votes)
4. Wiktoria – “Save Me” 11.33% (642 votes)
5. Molly Sandén – “Youniverse” 10.47% (593 votes)
6. Frans – “If I Were Sorry” 9.5% (538 votes)
7. Lisa Ajax – “My Heart Wants Me Dead” 6.04% (342 votes)
8. Samir & Viktor – “Bada nakna” 5.56% (315 votes)
9. SaRaha – “Kizunguzungu” 4.66% (264 votes)
10. Boris René – “Put Your Love on Me” 2.56% (145 votes)
11. Panetoz – “Håll om mig hårt” 2.38% (135 votes)
12. David Lindgren – “We Are Your Tomorrow” 1.91% (109 votes)

Total Votes: 5,666

Frans can be a very fun and sweet but HIS SONG is the worst of this year in Sweden by the way… It is so common, nothing special and can win the vote in Sweden but the specialized jury will vote to Wiktoria, Robin, Ace, Oscar Zia and Molly (the 5 better acts and entries from Sweden SO FAR) I don’t understant how frans can be in the top of downloaders songs… Frans can retur no melfets with a GOOD song if he want to go to ESC

Frans isn’t my personal top choice, but I hope he wins. The people of Sweden clearly want him, so it would be a shame if their top choice didn’t get to represent them on home soil. Especially since that’s what happened back in 2013.

Give the people what they want! They’re the ones paying for the thing!

She has no voice but her song is great. I want either her or Oscar (but I also don’t want Sweden to win again, so they can send that flop Frans dude).

Are you the Frans’ girlfriend/boyfriend or someone of his family? You are always so desperate to defend Frans, like you are not sure that he is going to win.

I so much want Ace to win, but this year has a nasty trend of national finals going horribly wrong, so I won’t keep my hopes too high.

Please send Oscar or Wictoria. Anybody but Frans.

@Loo
Don’t be so f*ing naive. The fact that some countries are rich and can afford big glamorus shows does not mean that they take Eurovision seriously. And a win doesn’t necessarily shoes interest for Eurovision. I don’t think Austrians were ”interested” at winning, whereas there are countries that like Eurovision but simply can’t win.
”We moved Eurovision forward while hosting in 2013” Yeah… EVERYBODY talks about how much more democratic Eurovision became after 2013.

To person who said that Frans parents pay for votes:

Do they also pay to people to listen to the song on Spotify? It is currently #25 on Spotify Worldwide Viral 50, that proves that the song can do really well in Eurovision. There’s no other song that has reached worldwide Spotify chart.

Oscar apperently did a very good job this evening. He sang really good when the juries watched. I’m glad. Some say he could challenge tomorrow. Allthough Frans will win the televote, something I will never get, then I think Oscar could be the one to look out for in the jury-vote because people consider it to be a song and performance made for eurovision. But we’ll see. On Spotify ballads from Melodifestivalen have a tendensy not to work as good as more up-tempo songs. Like Sanna’s Undo. So I’m not quite sure where Oscar will end. But he still holds… Read more »

I am happy that Molly, Ace, Wiktoria and Robin are in the Final. For no reason, most of you place Frans first for repeating same words and completing the entry with a dull ending. I want Molly or Ace to win. Ugh Wiktoria too. It is so tight this year in Melodifestivalen.

I’m so tired of all the hate against Frans. Sorry to say, but he will win for sure, and yes, I do think the juries will like him. Ace don’t stand a chance I fear.

I woould take one of the boys to Stockholm:
1. Robin (the whole package)
2. Frans (not sure about the jury)
3. Oscar Zia (quite posible, jury-televote appealing and a dark reflexive song)
4. Boris (very difficult)

@Loo… I don’t understand why you’re coming on so strong? You think it will help in some way? If you’re that sure about this song just let the music speak for itself. By the way I’m Swedish too (my vote goes to Oscar Zia, even though he unfortunately can’t sing) and I can tell you not everybody wants Frans to win. And why does everybody want to find a winner so bad, specially on this page? It will get you nowhere – just look how @William Lee Adams treat Måns Zelmerlöw. @Loo: Let me remind you the specifics of all this hatred against Måns – it was a disease called “Televoting” that hasn’t quite found a cure that allows voters to understand that mathematically the televoting outcomes is only worth 50% the final outcome … yet … there is this profound and earth shattering screaming anger that is so uncontrollable to not accept such rule … so when Italy was announced winner at the televote … it all went lose and chaos was installed to this very day … except of course when Måns took his clothes off .. if you… Read more »

Why is it so hard for fans here to understand that the one voting are the Swedes the same people who have been dictating the chart success of each entry? No matter how much one wants FRANS to not win … isn’t a bit silly and naive to actually not acknowledge the real context that is behind Sweden’s overwhelming support for the kid? Keep your favouritism but also try to keep your feet on the ground and accept things because in this situation it’s cristal clear. The ONLY things NO ONE knows is how the juries will vote … but… Read more »

Loo.. that’s not the reason why people don’t like Frans. They just don’t like him! Även Nöjespanelens Katarina på svt:s morgonprogram imorse sågade hans chanser i esc. Och Markus Larsson på Aftonbladet. Signalerna är tydliga.

The only reason behind the Frans hate is because yet again Sweden is the best in the competition and because of that we are the bookies favorite atm. Once again, we are (together with perhaps Russia, Germany and maybe Australia) one of very few countries who still takes this competition seriously. We moved Eurovision forward while hosting in 2013 and will do it again this year. All the jealousy is ridiculous. Sweden LOVES this competition and that is reflected in our results as well. Passion is everything. All you guys hated Måns last year as well and look what happened?… Read more »

Ughh Frans’ song is boring. Its so repetitive. I hope one the following artists will win:

Oscar Zia – “Human”
Robin Bengtsson – “Constellation Prize”
Wiktoria – “Save Me”
SaRaha – “Kizunguzungu”
Boris René – “Put Your Love on Me”

I don’t see how Frans’ song wouldn’t be international, Matt Simons has a big international hit with a very similar song (albeit with a much stronger chorus). The Wiwibloggs readership is different from the general audience. Frans could appeal to teenage girls everywhere, not just in Sweden.

The problem is the juries. The guy is a poor singer, even in a very simple song like this he struggles.

I don’t mind Frans’ song, but I can see why people don’t like it. It’s a marmite song: you either love it or hate it. I can’t see it winning Eurovision but I’m certain it’ll win Melodifestivalen. I personally want an Andra Chansen act winning as all the Andra Chansen winners were fun and not serious, which I feel is needed in this competition.

ace is a great choice but i’m afraid she’ll lose the dancers in order to make up the backing vocalists due to the six-person-on-stage rule and her performance in eurovision won’t be as slick.

Basically, I want anyone to win except Frans 😛 and Ace is one of my favourites, so yeah! I would love to see her win. Despite what many say, I do think Don’t Worry is a great song, similar but at the same time quite different to Busy Doin’ Nothin’ and I love that. Also I think her staging is amazing, if not the best of all this year and would do great at ESC. Unfortunately seeing things as they are right now, I don’t see her winning. But if not this year I would love to see Ace representing… Read more »
