Malta Ira Losco Eurovision 2016 walk on water
Brunette tresses

Ira Losco triumphed at MESC back in January with “Chameleon (Invincible)”, and last night she shed her musical skin altogether, debuting her new entry Walk On Water.  Co-written by two-time #Melfest star Molly Pettersson Hammar, the entry has received a strong reaction from fans. Some say it’s a masterpiece that and that Malta might finally be on track for a long overdue victory. Others say meh, I preferred “Chameleon”.

The songs are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum. “Chameleon” radiates fierce electropop darkness, pulsing with the kind of musical electricity that made Ira’s victory in Malta inevitable. With “Walk on Water” Ira embraces soul, drum ‘n bass and gospel.

Which song do you prefer? Below you can watch both songs and then let us know how they compare. Then vote in our poll. Will it take a miracle (hey Samra girl!) for Ira to qualify, or should we be booking flights and hotel rooms in Valletta now? Let us know in the comments box below!

Neither of them really stands out, but I think that Chameleon had a nicer melody. Good luck to Walk On Water anyway!

I am not sure why everybody is so excited about this song. Both versions are absolutely boring, and would love to have an option to express this opinion in the poll as well just like you had it for the Albanian song….

Malta ruined their song and this is clearly Swedish-Russian conspiracy. They eliminate rivals in this way.

Both songs are disappointingly weak. However, if I have to choose between these both, I’d go for “Chameleon”. It was rather more authentic, while “Walk on Water” is a real cacophony, and a song that allegedly SVT already turned down for Melodifestivalen, which for majority of fans is great significance of weak quality.

“Walk on water” is an awesome song. Great choice!

For all of those who are writing negative comments, thank you, you are all a silver lining. When there is so many hate comments on one song it means that the song is good enough to have jealous haters. And any professional singer knows better than to view it any other way.

I just love how the same people hating on Walk on water have Russia in their top 3. :/

Anyway Walk on water is the better song and to those saying Ira or Malta havn’t tried this year Ha.

Russia and Azerbaijan just hired a Swedish person to do the work.

Ira spent months looking for 10 songs and revamped Chameleon and arranged for a professional jury to evaluate them and they chose WOW.

I really don’t understand the hate towards a banger of a song.

Go Ira!

Both songs are nothing special, Malta is not sending descent song because they are too comfortable with Ira Losco who finished second in 2002 and now they are working on her rather than finding special song, they change the song but came up with messy song including awful screaming in the beginning which is like wild life program and then funny and cheap song walk on water walk on water, I can imagine when she is on stage she can shake her body and breast with walk on water I be laughing my head off….sorry I am realy sorry I… Read more »

@blondboybc: AYE! Where is the “Chameleon” revamp to compare “Walk On Water” to?

CookyMonzta

@Mark W, Daniel: Absolutely. Beggars don’t get to be choosers. Quite frankly, I don’t think some of these people would have been satisfied no matter what she submitted. And I believe Brooke lost because “Golden” had just a bit too much Beyonce written all over it.

I’m more partial to “Chameleon” tbh. They could’ve revamped it to improve the chorus and add crescendo, but they gave us something that sounds too much like Molly PH. Anyway, Malta’s still in my top 10. 😀

Neither. Both are generic pop songs without anything skin deep. Neither has a hook, and neither reach a climax.
I really liked mad professor’s comment- yes, warrior was the better song, and this is the one which will qualify, sad.

Walk On Water, of course it has a current feel about it, but still i like the soul and emotion in it

and haters are Always gonna hate, Ira isn’t a average singer, she’s really good, her song 7th wonder is still my favourite eurovision track ever.

and Malta deserves a win, they have never won, and Haters please shut up 🙂

The second song is better than the first.
Unfortunately, the singer is the same in both of them.

Malta should be disqualified because 1st song is much more catchy, clear, sharp and better.

Who cares?

Still Brooke’s Golden is better than both of those.

Both of them are okay. Chameleon might get more negative comments for sounding like other entries, but at least it sounds more complete, like everything got cleanly tied up at the end of the song. Walk on Water sounds a bit better snippet-wise, but the ending sounds messy like something is missing. It’s like the song lyrics say: It’s not perfect, but it’s okay.

Ira Losco strives to outdo herself every time. She came 2nd in 2002, she wants to place 1st this time round. Similarly, Chameleon is a great song but Ira wants to go all out with Walk on Water, it has a whole lot more potential. It is a common trait of winners to challenge themselves

Chameleon had little chance of getting through in the tough semi 1. If Ira brings a good performance Walk on Water can expect to be heard in the final. Not in my top 10 but a much better effort.

How anyone can not love this song is beyond me? It is so powerful and modern without being cheesy!!!! This is a serious contender.

Neither. I feel like Malta hasn’t actually tried this year, but no doubt they’ll still get points from the UK. It’s a shame because they had a better song last year yet this is the one that will probably qualify.

This is a very good song, though it still is not in my top 10. Why are ppl hating on it?

You can not like the song, and have serious arguments like Robyn, as I do have as well, but I feel there is hate, and that is not the spirit of coming together, especially knowing the hate is towards Malta, a country which participated 28 or 29 (i don’t know :P) and never won the contest.

I have to add: my point can also be applied towards Greece’s Utopian Land.

I believe in what some people say that the higher the amount of times you listen to a given song, the more you’ll like it. Because, eventually, the song will grow on you. That may have happened to Color of Your Life. Not sure about Fairytale Love. But this could possibly happen to Walk on Water so I’ll have my verdict around the end of this month or onwards.

The same thing happened last year.

from my point of view “walk on water” is just AMAZING, and it´s easier to make an outstanding performance with “walk on water” than “chameleon”, you only need lots and lots of water hahahahha

Ira will be do disappointed in May. Atleast this has the chance to qualify, but top 10 or even 15? No, there’s no way. This song was obviously not written for her, and you can tell. Her voice is not suited for this song and my fear is that this will be a disaster live. Watch her flop like Charlotte Perrelli, Niamh Kavanagh and Dana International. I mean, who’s gonna vote for this? It’s just so bland and average.

For me both song is not good, and I don t like what Malta and Bulgaria do this year. It s not fair to other countries at Eurovision 2016.

Chameleon at least had some good moments and a revamped version would have been the best option. Walk On Water is just a mess from start to the end. I want to support Malta and Ira but WOW is definitely not something that will get my vote in Stockholm.

7th wonder xD.
Seriously any of them, both are generic and manufacture. Malta is so much better when they send something like 2013 or 2014.

I don’t like them both, ira Losco is a very average singer and i predict that this hype will result in failing to qualify.
