Last Sunday he wowed audiences with a stunning performance at the Russian Eurovision Pre-Party in Moscow and a few days later he was back on stage acting inside the Pushkin Theater.

But even Russia’s Sergey Lazarev — who jokingly described himself as Robo-Cop during our recent interview — is human.

Earlier this evening the Eurovision favourite collapsed during a live concert in St. Petersburg, leaving fans in shock as they filmed him from the audience.

A post shared by Sergey Lazarev (@lazarevsergey) on

Part of his tour “The Best Show”, Sergey cut a fit figure as he belted out hit after hit, wearing spray-on black jeans and matching work boots.

Everything seemed to be going fine as he stood centre stage in front of a large microphone with wings — until he suddenly and unexpectedly lost consciousness in the middle of the performance.

Assuming Sergey was just performing, fans can be heard clapping as if nothing is wrong — until support staff and dancers rush to the stage.

The dancers carried him away and Sergey received first aid, with the doctor administering NH4OH (a kind of ammonia), according to LifeNews.ru.

At the time of writing the concert had called a 15-minute intermission. Sergey has reportedly gained consciousness and we are awaiting further news.

We wish him a speedy recovery!

It’s so stupid how people who try to help him in this video make him stand upright right after he faints just to get off the stage faster. It could make it a lot worse. who cares what crowd is yelling

In one of the recent interviews, Sergey said that for some psychological reasons he doesn’t eat on the day he has to perform. And he didn’t eat on the day of semi-final as well as during the grand-final of Eurovision.

poorly executed stunt. see how he tried to add more sound with his left hand .
just lame

When wiwibloggs interviewed him in Israel, he mentioned, among other things, that he had not eaten that day. So it was probably low blood sugar which caused his collapse.

Lord! Why are people so cruel? He’s not a robot, he is human and he has the same human qualities as everyone and he may also feel unwell and faint…
Moreover is now very busy touring schedule, parallel to the Eurovision song contest, condemn is easy, but understand and to sympathise – not everyone is given … sad!
No drugs, no PR, it is overwork!!

All I have read since this report is that Sergey has cancelled the rest of his gigs for this week (Daily Mirror). Other than that there’s not that much of a fuss about it in the UK tabloids. Get well soon, Sergey! 🙂

@Random.sage2.6: Tolerate Russia and tolerate Sergey Lazarev. Opinions are accepted.

??? As you could see in the comments, people do tolerate Sergey Lazarev, but why do you think people should tolerate Russia if Russia doesn’t tolerate them? What are the reasons for tolerating someone who is fighting and discriminating against you or raping you? Could you give even one such a reason, please? 🙂

& glad I only read a portion of ‘comments’ from this thread
& we did think it was part of the act thats why no one ran to help him sooner.
I still hope that decent people are the majority in the world than russophobes with double standards ./ my hope seems to diminish though with every year passed

Greetings from the US of A.

I see the usual Russia-bashing hasn’t changed.

Let’s ignore all the politics and get down to the songs. Political conflicts and “culture shocks” will happen, I will not deny that, but I take it as added excitement to the contest and more interest in Eurovision 2016 and Sergey Lazarev. Tolerate Russia and tolerate Sergey Lazarev. Opinions are accepted.

I don’t think he should be wasting his energy on concerts in Russia at this point. He should rest up so he has enough energy for Eurovision. People in Russia can’t vote for him, and he is already known there. So there is no point doing all the concerts or extensive promotion in Russia. They should treat him more like a recovering athlete – assign him a nutritionist and a doctor to keep him in top physical shape.

ok, I will explain you why it is cultural shock. on example of Lazarev, to stay on topic. preface. Philip Kirkorov, who desperate to win ESC for many years since he had bad experience singing in person, tried every year to do it. entries for Russia, Ukraine he produced. every year he tried to win. Lazarev is hardworking and more or less honest singer. this year he planned to give a Tour over the Russia and neighborhood that will celebrate 10 years of his singing career. look at his site to check Tour dates – as every Russian artist he… Read more »

Usually it is exhaustion or dehydration that causes a person to collapse like that. He needs to rest and then to pace himself when he returns.

Ivana

@Andrey: They would ask him to perform again at the end, if he can. If not, they would play the video from the rehearsal.

Ivana

It is russophobia. Japan is the proof, cause the difference between Japan and Europe is much bigger than difference between Russia and Europe and nobody hates Japan because of the “cultural shock” lol

I am concerned about the problem. In spite of Sergey’s health is not so good, will he be able not to faint at Eurovision during his performances. There will be some rehearsals plus semifinal and the final. If he will not be able to reach the final for the reason of his illness, will our TV show us the final here in Russia? And can we vote then? If he falls on stage during his performance, can other countries vote for Russia or not? And what will happen next year of this occasion? Will Russia be disqualified in 2017 or… Read more »

it’s not a stunt. from what I see he collapsed for real. in Russian culture it considered to be humiliation for a man to act like a girl.

Russians, you’re correct, my grandma was a witch, from Russian town Stalingrad, she married Ukrainian at the time of WWII. what you call “rusophobia” is just cultural shock I experience when I have to communicate with you. and disgust. look at yourself in this thread, a bunch of stray dogs who’s too dumb to speak openly about the topic, but tries to bark at me instead.

A part of me wants to throw sade at the guy basically his song sucks … but the other part actually wonders if he was really okey that night and if she’s recovering well … he maybe an attention-w**** in Russian-Eurovision style but still I agree he is also human … Publicity stunt? Sadly that first part of me agrees so … so let’s hope not. It just would be too desperate …

Oxyk -You do realise you don’t make any sense right? “Russophile Daan” – Just because a person is not a russophobe like you that doesn’t make him a russophile either. Just a decent person who seems to have an objective view about the country and doesn’t comment under every article about Russia to spread hatred. “Rashist”- Also curious about this word. We don’t know what spray he was using in that pic. It could have been some kind of breathing medicine for his throat. Who knows? I find it very funny that you’re considering a person a “slave” just because… Read more »

@Anton, dutch referendum about trade agreement? it’s already ratified by all other countries of the EU. and we have trade embargo with Russia – have we died because of it? as you can see, I’m alive and enthusiastic 🙂 try harder. say hi to your newly created National Guardia. Have you seen how they train to beat protesters near Moscow? 400 000 of guardians to keep Russians loyal to their mother Russia. looks like you’re opening new history. it will be too bad if Lazarev will win ESC just to see that there’s no Russia left in 2017 🙂 have… Read more »

@V, can you please explain to russophile Daan who is rashist? what do you have to say on subject? what kind of spray Lazarev uses to sing on the stage? is it drug? can person who work without days off be considered a slave? ok, pro-Russian coalition, let’s skip drama. tell me, why you’re so upset with me? for telling obvious things? it’s not my fault that you selected weak singer with health issues to represent Russia. it’s not my fault that you accept slave-alike working hours for your precious singer. @Daan, Jamala don’t have to work like a slave and sing every day, because a) she have talent and voice, b) she don’t have to pay for ESC – Ukraine for the first time pays for the artist, therefore she don’t need extra money to support her ESC act.
and finally, no one cares what Russian morons think about others. hate you see from others is nothing but your own hate. keep it easy, rashist 🙂
