Dami Im, the representative for Australia at Eurovision 2016 has completely cemented herself as a front runner in this years contest. She has just performed her song “Sound of Silence” live for the very first time in front of hundreds of fans at Watergardens Shopping Centre in Melbourne as a part of their “Streat Vibes” music festival. Be prepared to be amazed!
It was evident that Dami was a little shaken during the performance–most likely due to it being her first time. It was potentially also nerves that caused a mix-up of her lyrics in the beginning of the second verse. But like a true professional, she recovered nicely. She nailed the big note before the last chorus and her fans went absolutely nuts!
Fans in the audience queued up for over and hour for the opportunity to purchase an official copy of “Sound of Silence”, with those being signed by Dami herself. They also received some awesome official merchandise from SBS including a #damiarmy snap-back hat!

Dami will continue promoting her song through other cities around Australia, before jetting off to Stockholm and then returning for a full national tour later this year.
this is a proper pop ballad, well produced and radio friendly and definitely gonna end up at top 3

Dami once again has shown what an electrifying live performer she is. Despite the obvious handicap of the venue staging and the poor audio engineering, those who were there witnessed just what a brilliant vocalist she is. The Sound Engineer clearly did not conduct a thorough Sound Check prior, the Speakers were continually cutting & chopping out with Damis Mic also playing up, under the circumstances Dami did extremely well, evan with speakers cutting out you could hear Damis power vocals miles away, had absolutely nothing to do with venue or recording, iDami Sang a few other songs with no technical issues, hopefully the production crew can learn from this experience.
After watching the video of Dami live performance of Sound Of Silence , she delivered and gave the song a total justice eventhough the quality of the sound system was not great . That’s a sign of Being a Good ARTIST like Dami Im

I must admit, this may not be the best venue to debute Dami’s song SOS. It was a make shift small stage with is a keyboard and the sound system and sound engineer that is not good. This video was taken by a fan in the audience with a cell phone probably so if you add that to the already bad sound systems this what you get of a video. Considering the degree of difficulty in pulling this song off with a low quality venue such as this one (with poor audio and acoustics) I have to say the vocal performance was pitch perfect – if you really listen to her sing it she doesn’t make mistakes vocally, consider too – first time live, nerves are there with big expectations, by the time we get to Eurovision she’ll have practiced it and visualized that many times she could do it in her sleep. She’ll blow everyone away on the night. Top 3 finish.
@Songfestivalwerk! This was a performance in a shopping center courtyard, with hundreds of cameras pointed at Dami, so she didn’t have any particular camera to connect to. In this situation there was no one to convince at home, only the ones in the audience and Dami did a magnificient job. I was blessed to be there and give Dami 12 points and sound engineers 1 point. The feed back from the speakers made any quality video recording impossible. Not a lot of women singers can pull it off singing live. They are either lip syncing or have lots of back-up. Dami Im is raw talent and man, she can sing! I have seen her countless times and she is has a very controlled voice and her vocals are pure. I’m so glad she is representing Australia. I could not ask for a better competitor! I would like to have been there to hear Dami live. I hope she does some more live singing of Sound of Silence to be more confident and comfortable with it. I think she has broken the ice so now should be fine.
I saw there last night, with a small, poor stage & sound system. Dami sang so well all of the song , specially Sound of Silence. Imagine with Eurovision ‘s stage , I do believe Dami will smach it . What s amazing voice. Go Dami make us proud !

I was there & Dami is just amazing. Even if the sounds were so poor, and the video is recorded by an amateur, Dami sounded so great. She is a real threat! Despite the circumstances around, Dami showed how amazing artist she is. Those powerful vocals are just unbelievable. I agree that this is not the right place to have her sing SOS live for the first time, in a shopping mall and not a good sound engineering, yet Dami gave a goosebumps performance. OMG she can really blow the roof off that little venue with her voice! Just a great live performance of that song as I didn’t think Dami could do it to the same level as in the video, and she didn’t, she took it even higher! Like wow, she is going to be amazing doing this with proper production in the big area in Stockholm – I think she will do at least top 3 if not win!

I was only able to watch a live stream of Dami Im at the Melbourne mini concert but it was enough to give me the sense of what an amazing artist Dami Im is! There she was standing on a semi sheltered platform with only a keyboard to use and sound equipment of dubious quality, and yet I was riveted to her performance, her vocals and her utterly genuine, open and honest persona. There are much stronger female vocalists in the contest this year than Dami and her song does not help her out much. I also do not understand why the writers on this site use so much hyperbole when describing Australia!
Having now seen a number of different videos of Dami’s live performance it does seem that the venue was less than ideal, the sound system appears to be woeful, what were SBS thinking to have the first public live performance somewhere like this!
So for a truly live and raw first time performance I think she did an awesome job under the circumstances! Also some of the comments around from people who were actually there are saying it was an amazing vocal performance of the song with some interesting changes to the ending – go Dami!

Despite the obvious poor sound quality at the venue Dami’s vocals still prevailed. Her rendition was superb and gave goosebumps to the live audience. It was a simple event for the ever so humble Dami to reconnect with her fans the DamiArmy at the grass roots level in order to thank them. So no back up singers, no dancers and that video was recorded by a fan camera and not by an official cameraman. I was there and she blew us away, The sound was awful and the mike was cutting in and out, those that criticized this are those that have been bagging Dami’s song from the Beginning and only came here to do that, don’t Judge her on this performance. Agreed they should of made sure that the sound quality was good, this was not an Official Video and in no way was meant to show what Dami can do on the night. I was there and she was amazing.
Lyrics are dull and a mess. I prefer simplier things.
Also, I’m not into love songs, Europe should not be also. Guess Australia has no problems now.
I like her as a singer I like the non-chorus parts of the song (can’t believe i forgot the word for that! lmao), but I just think overall the song is pretty dull 🙁 I wanted her to have an amazing more up-tempo song.

I think next month in Stockholm she needs to connect with the camera’s much better. And I advice her not to start freewheeling so much with her voice. She needs to convince the audiences at home. Not those in the hall.
