Hovi Star is slaying, y’all! Israel’s Eurovision 2016 singer has consistently nailed his performances here in Stockholm, securing a spot in the final and courting international press. He’s got a beautiful voice and a filthy mouth — and we just love it!

William and Deban got up close and personal with Hovi after his first rehearsal last week. Hovi brought his A-game as per usual, talking about perfectionism and dropping the word “bitches” at every turn.

“I always say that I will never be 100% satisfied with my stage performance, my vocals, my everything, because I’m too much of a perfectionist, but I think that when Eurovision comes and we do the rehearsals I will be 99.5% happy with everything, but right now I’m at 85%, cause I still need to yell at some people for things to happen, so I’ll do that and then I’ll be happy!”

But Hovi also expresses his love and admiration for other contestants, especially Poland’s Michal Szpak. It seems like the boys have built up a deep friendship during their Eurovision journey.

“He is so cute! Oh my God! When we were at the press conference in Israel, he gave me this coin from Poland, and today when I saw him, I saw that he was wearing the necklace I gave him in Israel!”

Hovi had plenty to say about his staging, which includes two acrobats wearing skintight body suits while locked in illuminated hula hoops.

“What do you mean, what is that about? Its about Eurovision! I bring it, I serve it, I give it!”

Hovi, I wish it were true you read all the comments. Your song is not bad (although by far not my favourite and I don’t like the staging at all) but, man, you can definitely sing! Your vocal skills are as stunning as your miseducation and your obsessive search for attention. The way your people were putting their flags in front of Måns and Petra while they were trying to close the show perfectly reflects your annoying behavior. Calm down and respect others a bit. You’re not the center of the universe nor of the ESC; you will notice tonight…

Ha ha, the famous “Marlena wishes”. 🙂
Michal had to explain himself after that video with birthday wishes for Marlena (his sister). He said that they have a family tradition of sending weird and freaky (as much as it’s possible) birthday wishes to each other. He just wants to be the weirdest one. 😉 He said that people are too serious if they do not treat it as a joke because that’s what it was. 🙂

Well I think it is carming when there is an accent. I think the same whith the polish act. It’s not My favorite, but tanks for a good performance and enjoy yours. You are all winners, and you have the power to set an exemple fore all politicans. Show the world that music is love and joy. Not a battlefield. What you would invite the singer from Russia and Ukrain for a fika. Show that a singer from a country, were love is a crime, is more than the law in it’s country. What if the ukrain singer could se… Read more »

@esc1234: maybe that’s because Douwe isn’t homophobic and no such comments were made? He just said that he thinks Hovi is a very flamboyant persona, which nobody can deny and is not a bad thing btw. Hovi is the one telling reporters he doesn’t like Douwe, thinks he’s stupid and says he “will kick his f*cking ass”. Not professional at all. If you have beef with someone, at least be professional about it. Good thing Wiwibloggs didn’t mention it. It’s not worth mentioning.

Hovi you are excellent performer but please stop using bad language which certainly doesn’t match with your performance on stage to be good example to millions of viewers while your bad language does the opposite and spoil you. We would like to see professional hovi focus all his energy on taking the show seriously to deliver the message of song and not to think oh there he is that dirty mouth coming on stage if you know what I mean. I would like to see you win but be careful with media where you can get trapped with use of… Read more »

Hovi Star has been my biggest pleasant surprise of this year’s contest. He has a voice that moves me to tears, and an image that cries out “pop star.” He has brought his own higher standard of staging to Eurovision, while livening up the tone of the Press interviews in his own unique way. His song may not have been the most complex, but it is very effective thanks to his voice. Whatever he decides to do in future, I’ll certainly be following it. D x

So Michal’s Marlena video was actually just him being the “metrosexual” that he is? 😉

I do hope that Michal’s statement about his sexuality was authentic and not a result of fear of homophobia. But whatever his sexual orientation is, I love him and his song. Good luck from Israel!

Exactly Fatima 🙂
Good people usually make friends with good people and are able to get along with everyone. I wish there were more good people in the world no matter what nationality, religion, race or sexual orientation. The adjective GOOD is for me the most important factor here. I divide people ONLY into good ones and bad ones.
Thank you for all good luck wishes for Michal. 🙂
Best of luck to your countries too. 🙂
Peace nad love :-*

Michal Szpak is NOT gay and he’s into women – that’s what he once said in some interview, it’s just his style – the metrosexual looks. But any Michal’s friendship is simply natural for him – he’s very open, tolerant and sociable with that neverending smile. 🙂

Wiwibloggs has been such a highlight of Eurovision 2016. It’s my first year of watching Wiwibloggs eurovision videos and news, and the coverage is 100x better than our Australian broadcaster SBSs’ content – even though Julia zemiro is a hoot.

Snaps all round for the wiwibloggs team for the amazing coverage, epic commentary and more – Best wishes from Australia.

It seems love is in the air between Hovi and Michal! Hehe Good for that. Hovi, if you read all comments, please control your hand in the performance as a way to improve it. I couldnt keep my eyes away from it in your rehearsals. Good luck!
