It’s raining women! At Eurovision 2016, a massive 22 out of the 42 competing acts were female soloists, and gurl, there was some major talent among these lovely ladies. Eurovision 2016 was all about equality and unity and we were LOVING IT.

Ahead of the grand final we asked you guys to name your favourite female soloist of the year. After counting a total of 8,731 votes we can now reveal the winner is Miss Iveta Mukuchyan from Armenia.

Her powerhouse vocals and experimental song “LoveWave” helped her win our poll with 1,221 votes — or 14% of all those cast.

Coupled with her win in our search for Eurovision’s Next Top Model 2016, it’s pretty clear her #LoveWave will roll on long after ESC…

Our silver medal goes to the exuberant and talented Barei from Spain.

The Spanish songstress behind the catchy tune “Say Yay!” killed it during her entire promotional tour and you guys were lapping it up. Her staging in Stockholm may have let us down slightly, but that can’t take away from her fire, vocal talent or charisma.

With 1,011 votes — around 12% of the total — it’s Barei!

Third place in the best female soloist poll goes to the incredibly talented and charming Nina Krajlic from Croatia.

Nina may have won the Barbara Dex Award for Worst Dressed, but that can’t take away from her amazing voice, which has a unique timbre backed up by major power.

With 764 votes — that’s 9% of the total — Nina comes in at third.

All nice and well, but where is Iveta Mukuchyan hiding now? No news, barely eeactions, no vocal show-up on Armenian or German television, no clubtour or what so ever.
I heard she was writing songs but that’s late! To me, her label is lacking full support. Not pushing her enough or failing on cash to promote songs. Now stepping in the studio to record new songs is a very late decision. Week after week waiting her fanbase will shrink.

Ughh I really can’t stand Iveta at this point. Why people liked her so much is beyond me.

But anyway, having Nina in third was a pleasant surprise! Go Nina!

Dami has the best vocals. Her vocals are so smooth & pure but she is also able to nail the high notes effortlessly. Beautiful vocals!

In my opinion the best are Sanja Vucic and Dami Im. Iveta is very good female soloist but not the best. Dami has incredible voice which is magical:)

For me Zoë and Laura were easily the best female.
Zoe was second in televoting in semifinal and if eurovision would count all points (from 1 to 25, decrease the power of diaspora and neighbours) it would be beat Iveta who was helped by stupid diaspora and friends.
Laura sadly was killed by the draw but in semifinal she beat Poland, Bulgaria and Lithuania in televoting (all 3 have diaspora) and Ukraine in jury.

Exactly.

@ Laura

Actually, in the final she was still #2 of all acts that had qualified from semi final 1. Ukraine, Australia and Bulgaria had qualified from the second semi final, Sweden and France were automatic qualifiers and Russia had finished ahead of Armenia in the first semi final as well.

How could she finish 2nd in the semi-final and only 7th in the grand final? Something went wrong I guess after flag…. just sayin… she’s great and I almost sure that she will return one day. She’s great )))
