Ever since Alexandra Stan burst onto Europe’s dance scene in 2010 with her iconic “Mr Saxobeat”, Romanians have been begging their sweetheart to represent them at Eurovision.

The singer, hailing from Constanta, has had a roller coaster career over the past few years. However, everything is looking fabulous again with the release of her new single “Ecoute”, her first song in French.

Now, in an interview with Spectrumm magazine, Alexandra makes it clear she has no intention of representing Romania at Eurovision 2017.

“I appreciate all artists who participate in this music competition, but I prefer to represent Romania in other ways. I love my country and I mention it in all international interviews. I want other people to come and visit us because we have beautiful and special places”.

So all in all, that’s a big fat no.

It’s not only our Eurovision hopes for Alexandra that Spectrumm have crushed in their latest issue.

They also reveal that Polish fan favourite Margaret has no plans to participate at Eurovision. Now, let the grieving process begin…

Many famous artists can’t sing live and they know it, this is why they refuse to participate.
Eurovision is bigger than anything they saw till now, and even if is not a voice competition, you must be able to sing live.

The only good part about Margaret’s participation this year was ‘Cool me down’. She by herself is a very bad singer with an awful voice that sounds tired at every moment and hurts my ears (seriously, not kidding). So I’m not worry about Margaret not participating next year, she isn’t enough good. That song with a good artist would have made a difference this year.

You can ask the same question to INNA and the answer is also no. It would be lovely if either one of them are willing to participate but their point of career today (becoming international already with plenty of good hits) says otherwise.

It would be worth Alexandra’s time to consider ESC as she has a lot more to gain than to lose. Mr Saxobeat is her only major hit. But I guess after what TVR and the EBU did to Romania and Anton this year, they might struggle to get artists to do it, for fear that they may face sudden withdrawal etc. Anyways I do hope to see Romania back on the ESC stage next year. But if we are talking about getting famous Romanians to enter for their country, surely everyone’s first guess is Inna? I’d love to see her… Read more »
