Missing out on this year’s Eurovision final didn’t dent Greta Salóme’s spirit at all. On the contrary, the violin-playing singer-songwriter has been busier than ever.

She spent the majority of July performing her one-woman show on board a Disney cruise ship, something she’s done for nearly two years now. And no sooner than she made it back to Iceland she’s been performing at gigs all over the country, including the Reykjavík Jazz Festival.

Somehow — amid all the show-stopping performances and donating her Eurovision costume to charity — the “Hear Them Calling” singer managed record the haunting new single “Row” and film a beautiful music video.

“Row” is a mixture of electro and indie-pop and doesn’t sail far away from the atmosphere of Greta’s Eurovision entry.

Last week she gave fans a sneak peek of her video in some behind the scenes footage, where she explained the meaning behind the song.

The song is about, I guess, an inner struggle and the need and the urgency within you to always to keep going and never settle and just chase your dreams and go after what you want.

The message of perseverance comes through loud and clear with the tribal beat and uplifting lyrics. As she sings: “Row and row your boat, until you’re safe and sound, up the river, going, going, going down.”

The video was shot on the Reykjanes peninsula, which is located in the south-western part of Iceland.

In the video you can see Greta run around Iceland’s iconic volcanic landscape, rolling down a dune of black sand and looking pensive inside an abandoned cabin. For a landscape junkie the scenery is a perfect fix — and Greta serves some remarkable eye candy, too.

The video was directed by Ásgeir Helgi Magnússon and Davíð Lúther Sigurðarson.

Eurovision fans may remember both of them. Ásgeir was Greta’s main choreographer for her Stockholm performance in May and Davíð was her Head of Press. We salute them!
