Your Face Sounds Familiar has become a reality TV juggernaut since it launched as Tu cara me suena in Spain in 2011. With over 30 editions airing worldwide, it’s no surprise that the fabulous impersonation competition has crossed over with another fabulous competition, the Eurovision Song Contest.

The best performances are always the Eurovision based ones (Azucar Moreno, that is all). However, we may have just found our new all-time fave, courtesy of Poland’s Twoja Twarz Brzmi Znajomo season six. Maria Tyszkiewicz, a Polish theatre actress and singer, took on the inimitable Michal Szpak in the first episode of the new season. And she slayed.

The hair, the iconic outfit, the facial expressions, the voice — it was all totally on point. Girl even had the Marilyn Manson inspired black nails!

Just like Michal Szpak, Maria gave it everything. She served up the realness of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, artists who influence both Michal’s performance and sartorial styles.

Maria clearly impressed with her brilliant impersonation as she made it through to the next episode. See for yourself how she compares with the real thing.

Over the years we’ve seen Ruth Lorenzo, Cezar OuatuOtt Lepland and many other Eurovision alums take on everyone from Lady Gaga to Céline Dion. Hey, it’s not their fault that they are just so talented and versatile.

The only thing better than a Michal Szpak impersonator is the real thing.

Thankfully Michal is among the confirmed acts to perform at OGAE Denmark’s annual Eurovision Song Concert, which will take place in Aarhus on the 29th of October. Eep! Other acts taking part include M I H A I, Drama Queen and Charlotte Perrelli. Tickets are on sale now.

It was not good. Michal “felt” this song and he didnt move his body so much, only his hands. Also, his face looks much much prettier and younger than here… and Michal’s voice is so unique that no one can even try to copy him. Michal is one and only <3

Somehow I like this staging more than the actual ESC one.

Actually, I didn’t like it at all. The makeup is horrible, and the face looks nothing like the pretty face of Micha?, more like something from a horror movie. I thought Maria, being an actress, would make a much better job at immitating Michal’s gestures, but she failed here too. The only good thing was the way she sang, not like Micha?, but it sounded really OK.

Ironic to say this but for such a emotionally fake and theatrical song that requires a non-authentic theatrical performance … they actually asked the right person to do it … only a true theatre actress would understand the over-the-top approach Michal showcased on stage … the same way people don’t care that Britney Spears lip sync .. no wonder they fell for this patheticness. However this performance rings true to what it really was … fake and overdramatic ..therefore I applaud it.
