She’s currently serving as a judge on “Golos”, the Russian edition of the international singing franchise “The Voice”.

And on on Sunday songstress Polina Gagarina gave this season’s contestants even more reason to idolize her as she released 9, her first large-scale release in the past six years.

“The new album is frank, mature and very holistic in nature,” she writes on her official web site. “I got to collect and realize the most unexpected and daring ideas, which I hope my fans will appreciate.”

Within moments of its release on Sunday the album shot to #1 on Russian iTunes, knocking Adele’s 25 off the top spot — and for good reason.

The ten-track album — among the most anticipated LPs of the year in Russia — skips effortlessly from pop-rock to jazz-funk to trip-hop.

Fans who only know the feel-good Polina from “A Million Voices” will quickly see that she has mixed it up, showing that she can’t be defined by genre let alone a single track.

The 29-year old beauty performed “Dance With Me” — one of the new tracks — live at a VK event in Moscow on September 11. This mother-of-one does not need Auto-Tune to nail a tune.

The titular 9 on the album cover wasn’t a random selection.

“I chose the figure, which is a symbol of man’s spiritual maturity, in terms of numbers,” she said on release day. “It means wisdom, enlightenment and subtle intuition.”

We are listening to our intuition and it’s telling us that you are onto a winner!

You can listen to Polina entire album here. You can also purchase it on iTunes. Then let us know what you think.

She slays!

@MoreMusicLessGlamourPlease

Are you kidding me?! “A Million Voices” is an absolute masterpiece and the best Eurovision song ever! But of course a song has to be rocky in order for you to appreciate it, I know 😛

Too bad her ESC entry was so cheesy….generic, dull and unoriginal. She obviously can tackle a wide range of different, innovative and interesting music styles. So why that boredom for ESC….too bad! Would be etter with something with real quality

I was not suggesting she is not talented, or that Sergey is not talented, for both composing and singing. It’s nothing wrong with working with a team or trying to be succesful in another country. Of course she can do all that means being a complete musician. Sorry if my message seemed sarcastic, it was not my intention.

She spent part of her childhood in Greece and speaks the language fluently.

@ an esc fan – Or maybe she’s simply a very talented musician rather than a mere vocalist. And that’s the case: did you know that she’s written and composed most of her discography, all by herself? Let’s not discredit talent, please.

Maybe she works with greek team, like Sergey Lazarev.

Great article! ‘9’ is indeed an unexpectedly flawless album. Even I, a huge stan, didn’t expect all this slayage. The productions are dark, at times experimental, and the quality is omnipresent. The lyrics aren’t basic and the songs are very well-written. And let’s not talk about the vocals… fantastic, as per usual with Polina. The single “Tantsuy so mnoy” is kinda flopping, but the track “Tselogo mira malo” has been sitting comfortably at #2 on the Russian iTunes for quite a few days. The album stayed atop the iTunes chart for the entire week in Russia. Talent always wins! @… Read more »

9 is the last of one-digit numbers and this is why is considered the highest level of spirituality. Is good that is a title everybody can read. Hope for Polina to be successful even more than she already is.

She is classy. Had not she been so modest and ascetic, she would have become a huge star in Europe.
