Lidia Ganeva Lidia Ganeva - Valsheben Den Bulgaria Junior Eurovision 2016

In June she won both the jury vote and the televote at Bulgaria’s national selection for Junior Eurovision 2016.

And on Sunday morning Lidia Ganeva proved that the country made the right choice when she unveiled her music video for “Magical Day” (Valsheben Den)”.

In her feel-good number Lidia brings the happy with an inspirational sound and a sweet message: “I believe there are miracles in every story, I know love remains in the world, I believe there are miracles in each tale, it’s awarded to the children on a magical day.” Preach, sista!

Bulgaria’s JESC 2016 song

The mid-tempo ballad builds nicely to an anthemic chorus that has a spiritual quality — a fact she plays on with a choir during the bridge. It’s also giving us major Walt Disney vibes, as it wouldn’t be out of place on the soundtrack to an animated film.

The video sees Lidia singing alone on stage as her fellow Bulgarians play chess, paint, dance, perform magic tricks and strum a series of instruments.

Overall it’s colourful, bright and very we-are-the-world. Lidia’s sincere delivery is enough to melt our cold, ageing hearts!

Lidia Ganeva’s “Valsheben Den” (Reaction)

Ten-year-old Lidia may have been the youngest competitor in Bulgaria’s selection, but she won audiences over with her mature vocals and infectious enthusiasm.

Nerves? She doesn’t seem to have them, having already competed in more than 20 singing competitions.

Do you think she has what it takes to win in Malta? Are you loving her music video? Let us know in the comments box below.

I like the song, I think it’s what the Scandinavian countries feel should be in the contest. It’s very childfriendly and Has a good message.

Also excited for Cyprus tomorrow! Their song is called Dance Floor, so I know it will be great.

This is a contender for top three… of course with no public voting, you never know.

I love the positive vibe, the message and the energy of Lidia. The choir adds a nice touch, but i am not sure how they will do it on stage.
Finally an age appropriate song with a universal message. Well done, Bulgaria. I have to say, Bulgaria definitely up-ed their game lately. This is the whole package.

Nice song. I think it will do very well in Valletta because it’s memorable and kid friendly. Unfortunately though, it’s currently last in my top because we have too many good songs this year.

My top 6 (so far):

1. Albania
2. Russia
3. The Netherlands
4. Belarus
5. Ukraine
6. Bulgaria

Cyprus are revealing their song tomorrow. 🙂
