Last weekend the Armenian national selection Depi Evratesil kicked off with the first episode. A handful of artists competed for a place in the next round and, amid plenty of thrills and spills, twelve of them advanced. This week another wave of Eurovision hopefuls performed in front of the star-studded jury, fighting for the chance to represent Armenia at Eurovision 2017.

With a three-month long competition ahead, the wait to find out Armenia’s representative will be a long one. However, the winner of Depi Evratesil and Eurovision 2017 might be among those who auditioned this week. You can watch the episode in full below.

Scroll down for our recap

Among the hopefuls this week was C’uc’o. Starting at 11:15, she impressed the judges with her rendition of Rihanna’s “We Found Love”. All six judges pressed their buttons, with Essaï enjoying the sound of her voice. Aram MP3 was familiar with her previous work and praised her stage presence and hoped she would go a long way in the competition.

One of the most noteworthy auditions of the episode came from Sona Dunoyan. Starting at 22:10, she performed Meghan Trainor’s “No” with guitar in hand. So much so that Aram MP3 and Iveta Mukuchyan pressed their buttons almost instantly. She finished with the approval of four judges — enough to advance to the next round. Hayko said that she walked in with a guitar and stole their hearts and looked forward to her future performances. Inga asked her to perform something else and Sona performed a traditional song, after which Inga and Essaï both pressed their buttons, giving her the approval of all six judges. Sometimes you gotta play to your roots to get ahead!

Gevorg Harutyunyan and Mart’a impressed the judges with upbeat songs. And Lilit Harutyunyan got all six buttons with her soulful performance starting at 3:38.

A short clip of this episode’s qualifiers is shown at 1:06:00. The auditions continue next weekend, when more hopefuls will try to impress the judges.

Hey slave could you bring me coffe.I am not going to listen to your fake history which you read from Armenian book.At that time all Armenians which were living in Azerbaijan worked for Azeris.Also go find yourself new word about Durexel. Azerbaijan has many famous peoples from history such Nizami Ganjavi or Sah Ismail.Do you know them?Of course no with your dumb brain and your dumb history you will never know them.First of all Kars not Kard treatment was signed by Russia not Armenia.This last 3 months Russia is friendly with Turkey aren’t you worried about it that real Azeri… Read more »

When the offspring of the nomadic tribes forget about their roots, it becomes so dangerous to live side by side. Just remember how Turkey and Azerbaijan were scared to death when just recently Russia wanted to rescind the Moscow and Kard agreements signed in 1921. In that case you would have to bring us back Nakhijevan as well. So, be open-minded, learn your history and respect four roots! If you claim you and Turks are ‘one nation-two countries’ how can you claim these territories if Turks appeared in this region only in the 12th century. Enjoy being younger than DUREX… Read more »

@Basic

I’m sorry. Were you planning on any of that actually making sense? Because if you did, then you kinda failed miserably. Take a deep breath, and try again. Use your words.

Also, I’m curious. If Armenia’s “stolen something from every country”, I’m very curious as to what they’ve stolen from St. Kitts and Nevis.

We have seen Azerbaijani so-called “culture”. A country which is founded only in 1918 is trying to make cultures of neighbouring states as its own. Azerbaijan is even younger than the condom-producing company “DUREX”.
