In 2015 she ended Latvia’s non-qualification record with her show-stopping performance of “Love Injected” in Vienna. Now Aminata Savadogo is making waves all over again on The Voice of Russia. In this week’s battle round, she showed off her incredible voice and served Russia some of that Burkina Faso realness we know and love.

Not so long ago we reported that Aminata Savadogo successfully made it through the blind auditions on The Voice of Russia. She joined forces with her former Eurovision competitor and now The Voice coach, Polina Gagarina.

In the battle round this week, Animata gave a powerful performance, absolutely nailed it, and advanced to the next round. She has Russian viewers buzzing, with many saying that Aminata is the one to beat, and could go on to win the series.

Aminata was paired with the American singer Charlie Armstrong — grandson of the jazz legend Louis Armstrong. Together they sang the soul classic “It’s a Man’s World”.

The performance was so powerful and flawless that it left the judges speechless but very happy. Judge Dima Bilan noted (after a moment of amazement) that both of the performers are so strong that it would be extremely hard for Polina to make a decision.

However, the one with a million voices behind her had a clear vision of the result. She explained, “Charlie, I want you to forgive me, ’cause my heart really belongs to Aminata.” Ours, too!

We all know that Aminata’s voice can work miracles — her unique timbre, the inner power. And it seems that she convinced a lot of Russian viewers. Fans of the show are predicting that the Latvian diva will reach the final and maybe even win. But to get there, she will have to go through the knockouts, quarter-final and semi-final. But we’ll be there, following her journey throughout The Voice of Russia. Our fingers are crossed for her!

What do you think of the performance? Can Aminata win the whole show? Let us know in the comments below!

Isn’t The Voice about discovering new singers? What the hell is a professional (inc. Eurovision Top 10) doing there in the competition?

I find it so weird that she’s competing on a show with Polina as a judge – they should be on an even playing field but this gives Polina more power over Aminata. They are both great artists in their own right. It’s strange.

@D

Yeah, love Aminata (I wanted her to win last year) but I was surprised she was allowed to compete when Polina’s a judge. Then again, she’d have advanced even if there wasn’t a Eurovision connection.

It kinda seems like a conflict of interest that Aminata’s on Polina’s team. Like, they know each other and seem to be kinda friends, wouldn’t that give her an unfair advantage over her competitors when Polina has to choose who to eliminate.

This was such a short cold way to choose Aminata … it all sounded like … it was gonna be her even before the performance so let’s move on with it … it’s nice to see Charlie took this the best way he could … Blake Shelton and Adam Levine bromance comedy were lacking here … metaphorically speaking.

Most viewers are disappointed by this performance. However this is a coach’s fault. There was a problem of harmonizing.

With all respect, Wiwi, you should really research before writing. The Voice community seems to be giving a very lukewarm reaction to the performance. In an unofficial survey conducted after this week, less than 2 percent of Voice fans gave preference to this duet. The winner for example amassed 45 percent and second place 23. I believe that overall people called it ‘too much shouting’ – and this is what I got via google translate. As a native speaker, Michael, you could have got much more tangible staff than that. I wish Aminata all the best, but her duet performance… Read more »
