lidia-ganeva-junior-eurovision-2016-bulgaria-6

She’s known for being happy and bright. So it’s only natural that Bulgaria’s Lidia Ganeva opted for a bold performance that mixed a panoply of colours from green to red to blue. The LED is in almost constant flux as it snakes through those colours and more, providing the perfect backdrop for Lidia’s kiddie couture. Her ankle-skimming princess dress is decorated with imprints of birds and a blue and white sky that’s at once high-fashion and kid-friendly. It obviously fits with her theme, which is all about peace and unity. Lidia gets it.

“Magical Day” is a sugary sweet power ballad with an anthemic quality, and she proved she’s more than able to deliver it live. In fact, the live version may be better than the studio version because it conveys a very subtle sense of frailty, which is perfect for a kid’s singing contest.

One of my favorites, actually top 3 for me… Every time I see Lidia on stage, I feel how powerfully she owns it. I would have liked to see her a bit relaxed here–on first view, I thought she looked a bit tense, but then I realized that I had expected the same sunny performance as in the studio version.

Wow! Her voice seems even more powerful then in the studio version. It is still one of my favourites but I am worried about the staging – it is too simple. I hoped for some of the kids from the video to make appereance in Malta but… Too bad.

Bulgaria seems to have a thing with cute little girls with GREAT voices, I have flashbacks of Krisia in 2014.

What an amazing voice! the live vocals sound great and we’re talking about a rehearsal video with low audio quality, so I can only imagine how she will sound during the real thing. I’m hoping Bulgaria to win this time, as it should’ve been 2 years ago…

Great and appropriate staging but there is an issue. She has to relax because her voice sounds a bit rough and not as sweet as in the studio version. Maybe she has a cold?
