Emma is competing in Finland’s Eurovision national final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailiu (UMK) 2017 with her song “Circle of Light”. She describes her style of music as “Wooden Dance Music” — EDM with acoustic elements.
“Circle of Light” is a song of strength, about feeling that you’re in a safe, protective place. The chorus asserts “Nothing bad will ever cross the line/We are safe in the circle of light”.
The song also uses the Finnish term “rakas”, a term of endearment, like “darling”. Emma sings, “Now hush, I don’t wanna cry/I wanna pretend/Rakas, we are fine”.
