During Saturday’s Christmas edition of X Factor, she served ho-ho-ho- festive realness as she sleighed the Mariah Carey classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” before reprising her audition song “Chandelier” from Sia.
And on Sunday Saara Aalto advanced to the final of the X Factor UK, making her the first Finnish singer ever to do so.
On Saturday she showcased her fun and flashy side with Mariah’s number. Then, with the final just inches away, Saara got serious, nailing her visceral and touching Sia cover. She didn’t just swing from that “Chandelier”. She ripped it off the ceiling, stomped on it and left us quaking in her wake! British viewers clearly responded.
X Factor 2016: Betting odds
Shortly after Saturday’s performance she overtook series favourite Matt Terry to become the odds-on favourite, showing that the bookies have faith this snow fairy is taking flight and landing on top.
And tonight their belief in her only strengthened. Shortly after she was announced as a finalist, her odds to win narrowed from 8/11 to 8/13, while Matt’s expanded from 2 to 5/2.

X Factor Semi-final results
Five After Midnight were the first act announced as making it to the X Factor final, followed by Saara. Her jubilant reaction was as hilarious and off-the-wall as ever, showing just how much she wants this.
The sing-off came down to Matt and Emily Middlemas. As expected, Simon saved his charge Emily, while Nicole saved her contestant Matt. Louis and Sharon also opted to save Matt, who commands a huge and growing legion of fan girls (and boys).
The three finalists revealed where they’ll be headed for special hometown concerts this week.
Matt is headed to Bromley, while Five After Midnight are headed to Leicester. As for Finnish-born Saara, she’s off to Helsinki. While going home will give all of the acts a big morale boost, it’s also a chance to court local votes. Given that Finns can’t vote in X Factor (well, unless they circumvent the system), that would seem to put her at a slight disadvantage. Then again, she’s won so much love from Brits in recent weeks maybe it doesn’t matter.

… I still don’t see what the hell this girl has that is so overwhelming … vocal technique? What’s the use of that if you don’t know how to be real and authentic when delivering emotion in your singing … I am baffled watching from a jar this whole chaos unfold … an Eurovision wannabe winning the UK xfactor …. the world has really lost its mind.
Finns can. vote for her. Something about downloading the app with a Finnish email or Finnish Apple ID
I wish Emily was in the final instead of Matt, but I have faith Saara can beat 5AM and Matt. I never liked either of them and it’d be so much sweeter to Saara take the crown from them; someone no one expected to even make it to The X Factor Tour.
How cool!
Yeyyyyyyy!
Good for her and Im kind of glad Emily Middlemas is gone, while she can sing, she just didn’t have a standout moment. She was just very plain. Saara Aalto is a unique finalist in the fact that she has been in the bottom two so many times, although I think this is the first ever Final where all of the Finalists had been in the bottom 2 at least once. I still think 5 After Midnight will have the most successful career after XF, weither they win or lose, there is a market for them and they are different. So… Read more »
I am now certain that she will win!
