Eurovision in Concert Selma

She was the favourite to win Eurovision 1999, ultimately finishing second behind Sweden’s Charlotte Perrelli.

And now Selma Björnsdottir is ready to prove that she’s still got it as she co-hosts — and hopefully performs — at Eurovision in Concert 2017.

Selma has been very active in the world of Eurovision since finishing as runner-up. In 2005 she was internally selected to represent Iceland with the song “If I Had Your Love”. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to snatch the crown, failing to advance from the semi-final. In 2015 she returned yet again — this time as the choreographer for Iceland’s Maria Olafs. Unfortunately she too failed to qualify.

Eurovision in Concert 2017 will take place on Saturday, April 8 in Amsterdam’s Melkweg.

Tickets cost €37.50 and can be purchased via the site’s official website: www.eurovisioninconcert.nl. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, 30 December at 12:00 CET.

The concert was first held back in 2009 and through the years it has become a massive hit — and something of a test run for Eurovision. In recent years at least half of all Eurovision acts have joined the lineup to sing their song (often it’s their first chance to perform their songs live in front of a large audience).

Dutch Eurovision commentator Cornald Maas has hosted the majority of the shows, alongside a glamorous female co-host. The team from wiwibloggs has traveled to Amsterdam for the last five editions and we have to tell you: It’s always hot! You can watch a recap of last year’s show below.

Are you headed to Amsterdam? And are you excited that Selma will co-host? Let us know in the comments box below.

Doris was easily the winner in 1999, closely followed by Selma. Charlotte was great too!

Should’ve won back in 1999! Would’ve been one of my top winners ever – nothing screams late 90s/early 00s happy times like Selma’s song
