saara aalto signs syco record sony simon cowell

She thrilled us with her sizzling X Factor performances, ultimately finishing as runner-up to Matt Terry.

But on Tuesday Finnish pop princess Saara Aalto proved that second place still comes with its share of prizes, as she signed not one but two record deals.

At a press conference in Helsinki, Saara announced that she had signed with Sony Music UK — the record company that’s also home to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.

But it doesn’t stop there. The Nordic starlet has also picked up a record deal in her home country with Sony Music Finland.

Speaking to YLE on December 12, Sony Finland’s managing director Wemppa Koivumäki cited Saara’s “global talent” and said that Finland “is too small a country for Saara.”

But he’s offered her a local deal anyway and Saara did not refuse.

It’s a triumphant result for the artist who is probably sick of finishing in second place. Saara was runner-up on The Voice of Finland and twice at the Finnish national selection for Eurovision.

Saara’s X Factor journey was bumpy. She landed in the bottom two sing-off three times, but soon won the hearts of Britain and earned a place in the X Factor grand final.

The series winner, Matt Terry, also has a record deal with Syco, but Saara’s double signing has the British press describing her as being bigger than Matt Terry, who has just the one deal.

Saara’s double signing has now set her up for a career in the UK, and a chance to build on her profile in Finland.

What do you think? Is Saara set for international stardom? Let us know in the comments box below.

To all posts . Regarding Saara in the bottom 2 .Three times during the early shows of the X factor…was never going to have saara eliminated, the judges was always going to make sure of this…..Go back and look at saara audition simon cowell said you just need a platform to give saara exposure….and by her being in bottom 2 three times…well….she got to sing more times than her rivals…this was the whole point of giving saara more exposure

Having listened to the press conference in my native language Finnish: Saara talked about a collaboration between Sony Music UK and Sony Music Finland where the part of the latter would be the distribution within Scandinavia. She also said that the details were still to be worked out. The best of luck to her!

According to a Finnish newspaper, Saara Aalto signed with both Sony Music UK and Sony Music Finland. It may not necessary be Syco.

Saara said that she has record deals with Sony UK and Sony Finland and that the exact role of Syco is not yet clear. Anyway she will travel to Los Angeles next month to work with David Foster and Diane Warren. Also a song by Sia has been offered to her.

Matt hasn´t a record deal with Syco.

He has a record deal with another label.

This is great news.
Normally it’s months after the final that syco would sign the runner up.
And the fact that Saara has a Finnish record deal is great for her.

I’m so glad for her.

A girl name Saara was born in Finland, but a star Saara was born in UK by her UK fans. It was nice to watch her passion become alive and grow step by step.

Simon backed Saara after he lost Emily in the semis, and he was the one who said she could make a comeback after the week 5 sing-off against Four of Diamonds. It’s great that he believes in her and I’m happy she’s finally living her dream to become a pop star!
